Topic: What Impact has an African American Athlete from Florida Had on My
Life?

The essay contest is open to all Florida K-12 students.  One winner will be
selected from each of the following three grade-level categories:
elementary (grades K-5), middle (grades 6-8) and high school (grades 9-12).

Winners will receive a full four-year tuition scholarship to a Florida
college or university of their choice, provided by the Florida Prepaid
College Foundation and a personal computer.

Essay Guidelines are as follows:
• Entries must be e-mailed to [log in to unmask] or mailed to the
Executive Office of the Governor: 400 S. Monroe Street, Suite 206,
Tallahassee, Florida 32399.
• Entries must be received no later than 5:00 p.m. (EST), January 6,
2005
• Only one entry per student will be accepted.
• Essays should be up to 500 words in length.
• Entries must include the student’s name, home address, contact
number, school name, grade level and title of the essay.
• Essay must be accompanied by a parental consent form in order to be
eligible for consideration.
