5th grade students are finishing their study of immigration into Ellis Island
during the 1900’s. As a culminating event to this unit, teachers, students
and their parents are having a multicultural celebration on Friday, May 4.
Each student will come dressed in a costume, and bring a covered dish to
represent their heritage . A simulation of the Ellis Island Immigration
Station will be set up, and U.S. Magistrate William Sherrill will attend to
give students their official oath of citizenship. It will be a great time to
come together and celebrate our nation’s rich diversity!
