We are pleased to announce that Hawks Rise will be hosting THE
CHESS CHALLENGE on April 30, 2004!  The first organizational
meeting will be held October 2, 2003 in the professional library in the
media center.  You don't have to know how to play chess to volunteer
for this event.  Please come see what it's all about!

As a result of THE CHESS CHALLENGE, every student from
kindergarten through 5th grade will be taught the basic rules of chess
and will participate in a simultaneous chess demonstration involving
all 821 K – 5th students at Hawks Rise!  EVERY student will receive a
chessboard and pieces, a commemorative CHESS CHALLENGE
t-shirt, and memories to last a lifetime!
