Association of Godby Graduates (AGG) meeting is next week.

All alumni are invited to participate.

We have 4 wins no losses.
We are ranked 3rd in state.

Attention Godby Alumni, Teachers and Staff,
On Thursday February 9th 2006 the Association of Godby Graduates (AGG) will
host our inaugural AGG Hall of Fame Induction and Dinner. Dinner will be
served promptly at 6:30 with the awards program to begin at 7:30. The event
will be held in the Godby Media Center and tickets are $8.00 each. Please
contact me, Manny Joanos (email or 488-1325) for tickets or questions. Find
below short bios of our first four inductees and of our guest speaker. Hall
of Fame honorees are selected based on lifetime achievements.


Dr. Regina (Heggs) Bryant, class of 1972
Dr. Regina Bryant graduated from Godby High School in 1972. She earned her
Bachelor degree at Florida State University in Business Teacher Education
(1976) and earned her Ph.D. at Florida A&M University in Education
Leadership Administration (2000). Dr Bryant has taught at Godby High School
for the past 28 years. She serves as coordinator for the Diversified Career
Technology Program and is the Chairperson for Godby High Business
Department.  Dr. Bryant sponsors the Partners for Excellence program, the
Mentors Program and the Junior/Senior Prom at Godby High. Dr. Bryant is an
Adjunct Professor at Florida A&M University and is responsible for teaching
undergraduate and graduate education courses.
Dr. Floyd R. Jaggears, class of 1978
Floyd R. Jaggears Jr. graduated from Godby High School in 1978 as
Salutatorian of his class.  While at Godby, Dr. Jaggears was a member of
the National Honor Society and an outstanding athlete.  He was a member of
the State Championship Football team in 1976 and was Most Valuable Player
for both the Godby Football team and Tallahassee QB Club in 1977.  He was
the Tallahassee Democrat Defensive player of the year 1977-1978.  Upon
graduating from Godby High School, Dr. Jaggears attended the U.S. Naval
Academy and concluded his military duty as Director of Sports Medicine at
the Naval Medical Center, Portsmouth, Virginia 1995. Dr.  Jaggears is
currently a Partner with the Tallahassee Orthopedic Clinic, Tallahassee,
Florida.
Mr. Mitch Gans, class of 1981
Mitch Gans graduated from Godby High School in 1981 where he was a member
of the National Honor Society and an active member in the German Club,
Spanish Club, Drama Club, and Computer Club.  He earned his Bachelors of
Science and Master of Science degree at Florida State University. Mr. Gans
is currently Asst. Director, Office of Technology, Florida State
University. Mr. Gans also serves as Curriculum Advisor for Web Design at
Lively Technical Center.  Mr. Gans served as the first president of the
Association of Godby Graduates (AGG). Under Mr. Gans’ leadership the AGG
developed a mission statement, by-laws and began the AGG legacy scholarship
fund. Mr. Gans continues to volunteer his time by managing the Godby Alumni
web site.
The Late, Spc4 Robert Wise, class of 2000
Spc4 Wise graduated from Godby High School in 2000.  He spent all four
years in AFJROTC and was the Corps Commander his senior year. Robert
received varsity letters for Cross Country and Soccer. Spc4 Wise joined the
Florida Army National Guard during his junior year at Godby High School.
After graduating from Godby Spc4 Wise continued participating in National
Guard activities, and often returned to Godby to help with AFJROTC. Spc4
Robert Wise made the ultimate sacrifice while serving his country in Iraq.
Robert was killed in action on November 12, 2003.


Guest Speaker
Dr. Alisa (Shumate) Ghazvini, class of 1977
Dr. Alisa S. Ghazvini graduated from Godby High School in 1977. While at
Godby, Dr. Ghazvini participated in four years of band, she was a Civinette
club member and was a member of the National Honor Society. Dr. Ghazvini
received her Ph.D. in Child Development and currently works as an early
childhood consultant. Dr. Ghazvini has operated a preschool program, served
on the faculty at Florida State University Department of Family and Child
Sciences, held leadership positions with the State Coordinating Council for
Early Childhood Services and the Florida Children’s Forum. Dr. Ghazvini
currently serves as the Assistant Director of the T/TAS Quality Initiative
for Florida’s Office of Early Learning.  Dr. Ghazvini’s training and
consulting interests include public policy research and development,
program design and evaluation, early childhood accountability systems,
infant and toddler development, family involvement, and early childhood
leadership.  She is honored to serve on the Board of Trustees for
Tallahassee Community College and is a recent recipient of the Centennial
Laureate Award from the FSU College of Human Sciences.
