Please plan to join the Association of Godby Graduates (AGG) in the Godby
High Media Center on Friday, April 1, at 6 p.m. to help celebrate our new
slate of AGG Hall of Fame inductees. Tickets are $15 each and all proceeds
support the AGG scholarship fund. The Godby High National Honor Society
students will serve and the AFJROTC students will Present Colors. This is a
very nice event and all Godby alumni are welcome.

To be inducted:

Mr. Paul Blackburn, Department of Highway Safety, class of 1970. (Category:
Volunteer) Paul has the unique distinction of being one of the first to
graduate from Godby High. He sights former band director, Mr. Bradford as
the reason he chose to attend Godby. Paul has been a two-term president of
the AGG and very instrumental in the success of the AGG Hall of Fame. He
has spent countless volunteer hours in volunteering for the AGG Hall of
Fame, AGG Honor Roll Dinner and the AGG Scholarship selection committee.
Hats off to Paul Blackburn for his dedication to the students of Godby High.

Mr. Allen Nobles, President, Nobles Consulting Group, class of 1971.
(Category: Business) While president of the Key Club, Allen was selected by
the Anchor Club girls as their Anchor Admiral. Allen also notes that while
in art class he designed and made the first Cougar Mascot Head. High school
was a tough gig for Allen. Well, just when you thought life couldn’t get
any better for Allen he took on the challenges of the real world. In 30
years Allen has built a surveying business that now has five offices
serving all of Florida and South Georgia. In recent year, the Nobles
Consulting Group has boasted 90 plus employees and over $6 million in
billings.

Mr. David Jones, President, Florida Disabled Outdoors Association (FDOA),
Godby class of ‘72, (Category: Sport/Athletics) After a long career as a
Winn Dixie store manager David opened his own business when suddenly he was
involved in a horrible hunting accident. Fortunately David survived the
near fatal head injuries. After extensive rehabilitation, David then
returned to FSU and earned a degree in Marketing and founded the FDOA in
1990. Through inspiration and grit gained from his own experience, David
has since devoted his life to enhance the quality of life of thousands of
others in the creation of programs like SPORTSABILITY and Miracle Sports.
Ms. Janet “Bruce” Hinkle, Retired, class of 1974. (Category:
Civic/Philanthropic) This former Marching Cougar graduated from FSU and
became a journalist, a mother, a political activist, and a civic leader.
Janet’s leadership has been felt on numerous boards including The Southern
Shakespeare Festival, The Knight Foundation Advisory Board, The Community
Foundation of North Florida, The Refuge House, and The Maclay School Board
of Trustees, among others.  In 2003, she co-chaired a city appointed
committee charged with the responsibility of developing a Cultural Plan for
the City of Tallahassee.  She is a graduate of both Leadership Tallahassee
and Leadership Florida.  In addition to volunteerism, Janet is a generous
contributor to many local causes including the establishment of a TCC
Scholarship for Godby band students in recognition of her Godby band
director, Jeff Bradford.
Mr. Mark Kaplan, Legislative Consultant, the Mosaic Company, class of 1985.
(Category: Professional) You just had to know that this former NHS, Brain
Bowl and Marching Cougar was destined for greatness. Mark has served as
Chief of Staff for Governor Bush and Lt. Governor Toni Jennings. Mark has
additionally served has Special Council to the office of the Speaker of the
Florida House of Representatives and while serving as Executive Director of
the Florida Housing Finance Corp. he coordinated the fund for permanent
housing response for 700,000 Florida homes in 2004 after a devastating
hurricane season. Mark is also serves on Florida’s Board of Education.
PFC Anthony Warren Simmons, Posthumous, US Army, class of 2003 (Category:
Military) Anthony was a 2003 graduate of Godby High School where he played
on the Soccer Team and was manager of the mighty Cougar Baseball Team.
Anthony served United States of America from 2008 until 2010 as an Infantry
Soldier, Tow Missile Operator/240B Machine Gunner in the US Army 101st
Airborne Division, 2-327 Infantry Regiment, D Co. PFC Simmons was promoted
to Team Leader in 2010. Anthony made the ultimate sacrifice for his Country
in Afghanistan in July of 2010.
