Hello Cougar Alumni
Four Sports Briefs:
The #2 and 5-0 Mighty Godby Cougars host the 4-1 Wolverines from Chiles
High tonight at Cox Stadium. The City Championship could be at stake. Head
Football Coach Shelton Crews say’s the Cougars are ready. Be There or watch
it on Cable 26.
Please make plans to attend the Homecoming Game this year on Thursday
October 26th at Cox Stadium at 7pm. We will have an Alumni reception and we
are inviting the two State Championship teams (1976 & 1986) to attend and
be recognized at midfield prior to the kickoff. More information will
follow as we near the date.
Godby High cross country runner junior Joe Franklin finished 5th recently
in a state wide cross country race in Tampa Florida. Franklin is ranked 1st
in the state for cross country in class 2A. He is coached by Godby grad XC
Coach Chris Sumner c/o ‘97. Franklin’s most distinguishing mark is that he
is ranked first in the nation for the 800 meters for all of high school.
This brings me to Track and Field. For those of you that missed it, the
Godby Boys Track team is the 2006 Florida 2A State Champions. The Cougars
edged out Tampa Jesuit and Glades Central for the #1 spot. Some of the high
lights:
