Good Morning Alumni,
You are invited.
Tomorrow at 1pm at the Bloxham Building downtown, Superintendent Jackie
Pons and the Leon County School Board will Honor the late Senior Chief
Quarter Master Vernon T. Foster and his family. Vernon’s name will be added
to the granite LCS Wall of Remembrance Memorial to be remembered always.
As you may recall Vernon Foster was a 1971 graduate of Godby High and was
most recently inducted into the AGG Hall of Fame posthumously. Vernon was
killed in an attack while serving on the Navy Ship USS Stark in 1987.
The AGG learned of Vernon’s death this past November 2015 from one of his
former classmates. The AGG took immediate action to recognize his bravery
and sacrifice by inducting Vernon to the Hall of Fame this past March 2016.
When Superintendent Pons learned of Vernon’s sacrifice he recommended
Vernon for inclusion on the Bloxham LCS Wall of Remembrance Memorial.
The Memorial committee then scheduled the ceremony tomorrow complete with
Presentation of Colors, 3 Rifle Volleys and special guest speaker Admiral
Rick Grant.
Hope to see you there,
Manny Joanos
