2019 AGG Hall of Fame
Dear Godby High Alumni and Faculty,
Join me in congratulating the 2019 Association of Godby Graduates (AGG) Hall of Fame Inductees. The AGG Hall of Fame recognizes graduates for their life time accomplishments and contributions. These new inductees typify the caliber of Godby High alumni that are working every day to make a difference. They do us proud.

The Hall of Fame committee has once again selected an outstanding slate to be inducted this March.

Please plan to join the AGG on Friday, March 29, 2019 at 5:30 p.m. in the Godby High Media Center to help celebrate this new slate of Association of Godby Graduates Hall of Fame inductees. Tickets are $25 each or a reserved table for 6 for $150. All proceeds support the AGG scholarship fund. The Godby High National Honor Society students will serve the meal and be recognized.

The 2019 honorees are:

Clarence Herring, class of 1970, Category:	Medical/Health
A very, very long time ago,, in a Galaxy far away, in 1970, Clarence was in Godby High’s very first graduating class. Now, Dr. Herring is the Assistant Director of Pharmacy Services for Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare. Clarence has provided pharmacy services at TMH since 1982 and currently administers pharmacy services for over 600 physicians. Clarence earned his PH.D in 1990 from Florida A&M University and has received the FAMU Distinguished Alumni Award in Science.

Ron Nelson, class of 1974, Category:	Science/Research
While most of our eyes become glazed over, Ron is getting very excited about characterizing nuclear reactions produced by neutrons using an array of high resolution gamma-ray detections. Ron received his PH.D from Duke University in Experimental Nuclear Physics and has been a research scientist at the Los Alamos National Laboratory since 1988. Ron and his Team has received six “Awards of Excellence” from the US Department of Energy Defense and the Team were recently recognized with the celebrated Distinguished Performance Award from Los Alamos National Laboratory.

Lori Nevin, class of 1977, Category:	Educator
Former Godby Cougar Marching Band Members Rock!!! And Lori Nevin is no exception. After graduating from Florida State University Lori began a very rewarding teaching carrier here in Leon County. Rewarding for her naturally, however extremely rewarding for the thousands of student she taught and also coached. Lori taught at Ruediger Elementary, Raa Middle and is finishing her carrier at Chiles High. Lori was named “Teacher of the Year” while at Raa Middle and earned a Masters in Science from FSU in 1993.

Roderick “Rod” Dale Carter, class of 1986, Category: Fine Arts/Broadcasting
Rod no doubt remembers his days at Godby as a time to learn precision and discipline. This former Air Force JROTC student learned both while spending the hours on the Drill and Color Guard Teams. Did it come in handy? You bet. Rod has been in broadcasting for 28 years and a Television News Anchor since 1993. Timing and precision is vital for broadcasters. Rod has worked in Tallahassee, Gainesville, Augusta, Birmingham and since 2010 He has been the News Anchor for WFLA-TV in Tampa Fl. Rod is a Florida A&M Broadcast Journalist Major and a winner of multiple broadcasting awards.

Joanna Carey Cleveland, class of 1987, Category:	Professional
From a Godby Cougar Baseball Batgirl to a Vice President of Legal Affairs and Deputy General Counsel for the University of North Carolina System and now at the University of Puget Sound at Tacoma, Washington. Wow ……what a ride. To be fair, Joanna was no ordinary batgirl, she was a National Honor student and graduated 8th in her Godby class of 256. Joanna is a Law School graduate and earned a Masters of Public Administration from the University of North Carolina.

Chelsea F Johnson, class of 2005, Category:	Sports/Athletics
So, in the 50 years Godby High has been playing Varsity sports, there has been 50 Homecoming Queens. Yes, you guessed it, Chelsea is one of those 50. Chelsea was also in the Honor Society, Student Government, Future Business Leaders of America, Latin Club and a 4 year starter and Captain of the Lady Cougar Girls Basketball Team. Chelsea then attended Livingstone College on a full Basketball scholarship where she, of course, was crowned Miss Livingstone College. Chelseas’ degree is in Biology with a minor in Chemistry. She teaches advanced placement classes at Godby and is the Head Basketball Coach for the Lady Cougars.
