AGG Holds Barbeque for Scholarship Fund

On May 6th The Association of Godby Graduates held a barbeque to raise
money for the AGG Legacy Scholarship Fund and recognize Godby Honor
Students. The event was very well attended by Godby Alumni. Dr. Pridgeon
introduced past principals Merry Ortega (Principal in the 80’s) and David
Ashburn (Asst. Principal in the 70’s). Dr. Pridgeon also thanked the AGG
for stepping up to become an academic booster club. Mitch Gans (AGG
President) welcomed the alumni then announced and recognized Godby High’s
Cum Laude Honor Roll students. The event also attracted many of our
faculty and staff. Special thanks goes to Sheriff Campbell for providing
tables, chairs and the tent that were set up in Godby’s beautiful
Courtyard. Enough money was raised to award two scholarships this year.

AGG Awards Two Scholarships

The Association of Godby Graduates proudly recognizes April Joy Prior and
David Joseph Johnston as the first two recipients of the newly created AGG
Legacy Scholarships. April currently attends TCC in addition to Godby High
as a dual-enrollment student. April will complete her AA degree this next
school year and she plans to be a Veterinarian. David will attend Florida
State University this fall and plans to major in Business/Hospitality.

Both students were recognized during Senior Awards Night for their
accomplishments and Mitch Gans (AGG President) presented each with a
$250.00 check. Dr. Pridgeon congratulates each student and wishes them the
very best. Dr. Pridgeon also acknowledges the fine contribution of the
AGG. Hats off to April and David.
