Join me in congratulating the 2013 Association of Godby Graduates (AGG)
Hall of Fame Inductees. The AGG Hall of Fame recognizes graduates for
their lifetime accomplishments and contributions. These individuals
exemplify the contributions Amos P. Godby High graduates have made to
City, State and Country.
The Hall of Fame committee has selected an outstanding slate of graduates
to be inducted this April.

The 2013 honorees are:

Please plan to join the AGG on Friday, April 5th, at 5:30 p.m. to help
celebrate this new slate of Association of Godby Graduates Hall of Fame
inductees. Tickets are $20 each or you can reserve a table for 6 persons
for $100. All proceeds support the AGG scholarship fund. The Godby High
National Honor Society students will serve and be recognized.

Horace “Chip” Bashinski, Class of 1970, Curriculum Resource Teacher,
Orange County Schools.

Let it be known that the AGG holds public school teachers in the highest
esteem. Chip has been involved in public education for 37 years  and for
the past 18 years Chip has directed Career and Technical Education for
Orange County, the second largest public school district in the State.
Chip has been the recipient of the coveted Florida Technology Education
Association “Teacher of the Year” award and has also been awarded the Walt
Disney/Orange County Schools Foundation “Innovative Classroom Practices
Award”. If that’s not enough, Chip is also the immediate past president
for the Florida Association for Technical and Industrial Educators
Association. Way to go Chip
Barbara K. Hobbs, Class of 1974, Florida District Court Judge. (Category:

In the words of Flip Wilson…. “here comes the Judge”, Judge Barbara K.
Hobbs that is. After a sterling public and private practice career, this
former Cougar cheerleader now serves 6 North Florida Counties as their
Circuit Court Judge. Prior to Barbara’s election she was a private
practice attorney and has tried well over 200 cases in State and Federal
courts. In her earlier years as a public service attorney she served as
council for Florida’s Attorney General, the Florida Department of Business
and Professional Regulations and the Florida Department of Transportation.
Hats Off to Barbara for her success in public service and her lifetime
achievements.
Belinda (Mills) Keiser, Class of 1976, Vice Chancellor Keiser University.

Wow…. can only describe Belinda’s stellar career. As vice chancellor,
Belinda over see’s community relations and student advancement for
Keiser’s 17 locations that include schools in Eastern Europe and China.
While Belinda’s resume qualifies her for multiple Hall of Fame categories,
this former Godby debater is being recognized for her philanthropic works.
It’s obvious that Belinda’s labor of love is public service and giving.
Belinda is in charge of all charitable donations for the university and
her good work does not end with the stroke of the check. She also
volunteers for everything.  She serves on more Foundations and Boards than
can be listed in this bio. The AGG venerates Belinda’s public service
heart.
Moni Basu, Class of 1979, CNN Editor. (Category: Professional)
This former NHS standout has had an incredible journalistic career. After
a very successful and prestigious 19 year history with the Atlanta
Journal, Moni continues to rake in the accolades at CNN. While Moni is
credited with dozens of outstanding works, two pieces have really defined
her mark; “Chaplain Turner’s War” and “Seven months in Iraq, six years
back home: A soldier’s war on two fronts”. Moni has been recognized by the
Georgia Press Association, the Association of Women in Communications,
Atlanta Press Association and South Asian Journalists Association. Moni
has covered stories all over the world. If you are intrigued about Moni’s

Family proud.

Rudy Rowe, Class of 1986, CEO Southland Contracting and Rowe Roofing.

Who would have thought it? Rudy has set the ground ablaze since graduating
from Godby High. His two businesses are very successful enterprises and
Rudy has built projects from Leon County to Escambia County. Rudy has been
a General Contractor for 23 year and is a LEED Accredited Professional.
Rudy is a community supporter and lists the Special Olympics, the
Salvation Army, St. Jude hospital and others on his regular check
registry. Additionally, Rudy and his wife Kari are raising their three
children in our public schools here in Tallahassee. The AGG salutes Rudy
for his success and his support for the Leon County School District.
Julie Gladden Barre, Class of 1986, Orthopedic Surgeon. (Category:

Julie exemplifies the notion that any of us can always do and be better, a
trait so many of us learn while at Godby High. Upon graduating from Godby
Julie became a Physical Therapist. After a few years working in the
physical therapy  field, Julie decided she was capable of doing
physician’s work, exemplifying her true “can do” attitude.   Julie
enrolled in the College of Medicine at Florida State and graduated in
2005. She completed her residency at the Medical College of Georgia and
her Fellowship at Sports Medicine Hughston Clinic in Columbus. Dr. Julie
Barre lists arthroscopic and shoulder surgery as her specialties. The AGG
recognizes Julie for her can do attitude and her lifetime achievement.
