Happy August 2005, Tigers!
Our summer is quickly coming to a close. We are busy getting ready for our
Tigers to return and we are expecting this to be our best year ever at
Griffin Middle School!
Our PTO will meet on Tuesday, August 2, 2005 at 7:00 PM in our Media
Center. Please make plans to join us as we work together for the good of
our students and our school. Our meeting will last from 7:00 - 8:00 PM.
Have a positive day and expect great things!

School will be starting on August 15, 2005. Does your child need a
physical exam? Are your child's shots up-to-date? Please make sure that
you check on this information as students will not be allowed to start
classes unless all health records are in order. Check out the information
below from our County Health Department:
LEON COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT CONTINUES OUTREACH CLINICS TO PROVIDE
IMMUNIZATIONS FOR SCHOOL ENTRY
All students entering or attending 7th grade must have documentation of a
tetanus-diphtheria booster (Td) along with the already required
documentation of a 2nd measles vaccine (preferably 2nd MMR) and the
hepatitis B vaccine series.
The Leon County Health Department has two remaining special outreach
immunization clinics scheduled before the start of the school year.
These clinics will provide free immunizations for students needing
immunizations for kindergarten or 7th grade entry. Any other child
needing immunizations may also be immunized at the locations/times listed
below. No appointment is needed for your child to be immunized during
these special immunization clinics.

In addition to the immunization clinics listed above, children may receive
immunizations by appointment at the Leon County Health Department, 2965
Municipal Way, or the Roberts & Stevens Clinic, 1515 Old Bainbridge Road.
To schedule an immunization appointment at one of these clinic locations,
please call 487-3155.
Parent or legal guardian must accompany all children receiving
immunizations through the Health Department. Please bring a copy of your
child’s immunization record, and, if available, social security card.
*IMPORTANT! Varicella vaccine is only available at the Municipal Way
Clinic and the Roberts & Stevens Clinic locations.
