Tiger Parents,

This is the time for students to select their courses for the upcoming
school year and to explore the educational opportunities that Griffin
Middle School has to offer. Griffin hosts Leon County’s Pre-Advanced
Placement Program that is designed to offer a challenging curriculum to
high-performing students. The program also allows students to earn as many
as four high-school credits upon their graduation from Griffin Middle
School.

The Pre-AP curriculum is offered at all grade levels and has a dedicated
team of teachers who will work together to maximize your child’s education.
Even though the lessons in the classroom are rigorous and challenging, the
team of teachers work together to ensure that students are successful. They
plan collaboratively to design activities that cross over content areas
such as language arts and social studies, and math and science.

In an effort to expand our program, we are extending the opportunity for
current sixth or seventh graders to apply for the program. Those who
received a pink course request form have been pre-identified as meeting the
preliminary criteria for acceptance. The next step is to complete and
submit the Pre-AP application to Mrs. Van Camp no later than next Friday,
May 9th. An application can be downloaded from Griffin’s website or
obtained from the Front Office. If you have any questions or concerns,
please don’t hesitate to contact BJ Van Camp at 488-8436.
