From the Principal. Mrs. Michelle Gayle

We have successfully completed our fifth week of school. All students
received Progress Alerts on Tuesday, September 16, 2003. Thanks for
reviewing this information with your child and holding your child to the
high expectations that we have in place at Griffin Middle School.
 Our Tackle Football Team began their season on Tuesday,
September16, 2003 at the Middle School Jamboree. The Griffin Tigers took on
the Fairview Falcons during the second quarter. The final score was Griffin
16 and Fairview 38. Don’t let the score fool you as our team looked really
good. Our team is coached by Coach Rich, Coach Holland, Coach Ganim and
Coach Rizzo. Come out and cheer the us on to victory next Tuesday as the
Tigers take on Cobb Middle School at 5:30 PM.
 Our Cross Country Team (Coached by Mr. and Mrs. Jones) and our
Girls Volleyball Team (Coached by Mr. Kauffman) also started the season
this week. The Tiger Cross Country Team competed in the Chiles Invitational
on Thursday, September 18, 2003. The Girls Volleyball Team opened the
season at Swift Creek on Thursday, too. I am proud of all of our teams!
Finally, I would like remind each 7th grade parent that we will be
conducting health screenings on Monday, September 22, 2003. These
screenings will include vision, hearing, height, weight and scoliosis. The
Leon County Health Department will be conducting these screenings for our
students. This is a county wide activity for all 7th grade students. Call
me if you would like to volunteer your time during the screenings. As
