Good Morning, Tigers!

I would like to congratulate everyone on a highly successful and positive
school year! We have experienced many positive things this past year
including:
* students excelling in critical thinking skills, rigorous coursework at
all levels and the completion of complex projects and presentations,
* cooperative ventures for our students with FSU, FAMU and TCC,
* Bookfairs and other activities that place a high emphasis on student
literacy,
* a district leadership team (Mr. Montford, Mrs. Wilson, Mrs. Ortega, Mrs.
Wright, and countless others) who visit our school on a regular basis and
supports our school efforts,
* new and long awaited construction in our cafeteria and other areas of our
school,
* dedicated parents who pitch in at every opportunity to help our school
continue to move forward,
* new technology (hardware and software) all over the school,
* an increase in our student population,
* welcoming new dedicated Tiger Team faculty and staff members,
* six teachers who worked hard to complete the requirements for National
Board Certification,
* many visits by state and local government officials who support Griffin
Middle School,
* a dedicated group of parents, staff, faculty, and volunteers who served
on our PTO and GMSAC team that made so many program enhancements possible
for our school,
* our student clubs and teams winning a multiplicity of academic and
athletic awards/competitions during the past school year,
* and a multitude of new volunteers and mentors who have made so many
activities possible for our students and our school!

We have been busy and we have so much to be proud of at Griffin Middle
School!

By now, you may have had a chance to see our school grade. Griffin earned
a "C" this year. Please note that Griffin was five points away from earning
a "B". This grade reflects the FCAT scores of our school during the Spring
of this school year. You can see our school's information on the following
website:

http://web.fldoe.org/NCLB/reportCard/default.cfm
action=report&school=0222&district=37&districtName=Leon

We have had a great year, and though this is the first "C" that the school
has received in three years, we will hold our heads up, keep working hard
and expecting the best from all of our students, teachers, parents, and
community volunteers. We have so many program enhancements planned for the
2004-2005 school year including Pre-AP, and engineering program with Godby
High School and Emory Univeristy, and new student activities that I cannot
wait to implement. I have been working with teams of dedicated and
innovative teachers who have been meeting since June 7, 2004 to plan for
our best school year ever.I assure you as the principal of this great
school that we will return to our "A+" school grade status next year!

This is and has always been an accurate grading report
