MOCK FCAT Sessions Begin!

Your child participated in the first of our annual MOCK FCAT Testing
sessions on yesterday (01.18.07). We began our MOCK FCAT sessions by
talking about the logistics of the upcoming FCAT test such as what
academic areas are covered on the test, how many questions will be on the
test, the cognitive complexity of the FCAT, and how much time is allocated
for each test area. Ask your child about this information. He/She should
know and be able to tell you. We then gave each child his/her personal
FCAT Chat sheet that reviewed his/her test scores from last year and
talked about how scores are generated on the FCAT. Each child was then
asked to set FCAT goals for this school year. The students that I spoke to
felt empowered to increase their achievement on the FCAT. We ended our
session by going over testing tips and the resources that are able to help
your child meet his/her FCAT goals! Please ask your child to share this
information with you. Mark your calendar and plan to attend our FCAT
Parent Academy on January 30, 2007 at 6:30 PM. Parents, you don't want to
be left behind and not be in the know when it comes to helping your child
achieve his/her personal FCAT goals!

FCAT Saturday Academy

Griffin Middle School's annual FCAT Saturday Academy will begin on
Saturday, January 20, 2007 and end on February 24, 2007. Our highly
successful academy begins at 9:00 AM and ends at 12:00 noon. School data
shows that students who have consistently attended our FCAT Saturday
Academy have improved their achievement on the FCAT and within their
academic classes at school. Griffin Middle School parents can drop their
child off at our cafeteria and expect their child to be engaged in
rigorous activities in the areas of reading, writing, mathematics and
science. Don't miss out on this opportunity to help ensure your child's
academic success!
