A Message from the Principal, Mrs. Michelle Gayle
This has been a great week in Tigerland! Our Special Olympics Basketball
Team played Raa Middle School on Friday, January 21, 2005. The final score
was Griffin—35 and Raa—21. Both teams and the crowd showed true
sportsmanship and team spirit throughout the game. Hats off to Coach
Holland, Coach Chapman, Mrs. Harrison, Mr. Whitfield, Ms. Judy, and Mr.
Rich for making this game such a positive experience for both schools!
Our FCAT Parent Night went very well. Mrs. Zoe Cooper informed
parents all about the FCAT in regard to what 6th, 7th and 8th grade
students will be tested on in February. She also shared tips about how
parents can help their child prepare for the FCAT. Ms. Loretta Haddad from
Godby High School also presented information to our parents about using the
newspaper to help prepare students for FCAT. Newspapers provide an
excellent way to increase vocabulary, critical thinking skills, and reading
skills. I would like to thank Ms. Nolan, Mrs. Harrison, Dr. Palmer, Mrs.
Jones, and Mrs. Gitlin for helping to coordinate such an informative
workshop for our parents.
Our PTO Booster Drive begins on Monday, January 24, 2005. Each
child will bring home information about this fundraiser. Know that this is
a simple and easy way to support the educational efforts of our school.
Thanks in advance for your continued help and support! Please do not
hesitate to call upon me if I can assist Have a positive week!
