HURRICANE RELIEF EFFORT

The Leon County School District is coordinating efforts to help provide assistance to families that
have been displaced because of Hurricane Katrina. There are many ways that you as a member of
our school family can get involved. We are listing below several different ways and solicit your
input on any others. Please feel free to contact your school's principal for further information or
call 487-7139, Merry Ortega, or 487-7525, Linda Corbett. We encourage everyone to participate
in any way you feel appropriate.

SECURE HOUSING: The School District is attempting to secure housing at no cost for displaced
families. If you have rental property such as homes or apartments or rooms in your home that you
are willing to open the doors rent free, please complete the form below and return it to your
child's school.

FINANCIAL: Each school is currently involved in fundraising with a school goal of $2 per student.
This activity has already begun and will run through Friday, September 23rd. All financial
contributions will be greatly appreciated. In addition, each school will be soliciting your financial
support in this effort at such activities as school Open House, middle school football jamborees,
high school sporting events, and the like.

DONATED GOODS: If you have donated goods such as clothing, housing goods such as blankets,
nonperishable foods, water, or school supplies, please deliver them to your child's school. These
will be collected weekly at a central warehouse. This activity will also run through September
23rd. All donated goods will be provided either to families in our community who arrived as a
result of the hurricane or to Red Cross to be sent to areas of need.
