Nutrition Tip of the Week:
Ways to eat less fat:
Skim milk, non-fat or low-fat yogurt and cheeses are a great way to cut the fat and eat healthy
foods. Avoid whole milk, all natural cheeses and cream cheese.
Lose 100 calories a day: When you think about weight gain, you probably think overeating or not
exercising. The reality is a simple 100 calories a day can make the difference in weight gain or
loss. American gains about two pounds a year. Since every pound of body weight equals 3500
calories, two pounds translates into an extra 19 calories a day.
Physical Activity Tip of the Week:
Join in physical activities at school.
Whether you take a physical education class or do other physical activities at school, such as
intramural sports, structured activities are a sure way to feel good, look good and stay physically
fit.
Building Healthy Muscles: Nutrition and working out go hand-in-hand to help you build muscles.
You need to work your muscles to build strong muscle mass and eat enough calories to repair
muscles after a hard workout. Maximize your muscle development by having a regular lifting
routine and aerobic activity. A good weightlifting routine consists of lifting several times per week,
resting a day in between each muscle group. For proper fuel, you need carbohydrates to help the
body during a workout, repair muscles after and to aid in rebuilding muscle mass.
