Parents-

It is that busy time of year again, and we have several dates for you keep
in mind. First, Friday, December 1st orders from the Believe fundraiser
will be distributed. Please allow appropriate arrangements for students
with large orders. Next, Wednesday, December 13th will be the last day for
all after school activities. Finally, the Winter Dance will be held
December 14th from 1:50 – 4:00 PM.

The end of the nine weeks is quickly approaching. December 20th will mark
the end the 2nd nine weeks, as well as kick off the first day of Winter
Break. December 17 – 19 will be early release days; school will conclude
at 11:20 AM. During these days, all secondary schools will be
administering Semester Exams. Students will return from Winter Break on
January 4th. Please check out our school calendar for more up coming
events going on in December.

Additionally, the kick off of a school wide character development program
has begun. It is called “Cubs with Character.” The goal of this program is
to enhance the development of positive character attributes necessary for
students to live a productive and successful life. Each week there is a
Rule of the Week, which is featured during Peer Counseling on Tuesday on
the CCN TV morning news program through a skit, role play episode, or other
type of presentation. Teachers and students then engage in a discussion on
why this rule is important in life. Examples of some of the Cubs with
Characters rules include the following: using eye contact when talking to
others, respecting others’ comments, carrying on positive conversations,
ABC’s of Etiquette, staying germ free, and staying away from disrespectful
gestures. The rules have been selected from the book, The Essential 55 – AN
Award-Winning Educator’s Rules for Discovering the Successful Student in
Every Child by Ron Clark. The sponsors of this program include students
from the Student Government Association, Sisterhood, Media Student Aides
and other students from various classes. Developing character is one of the
most important skills we have in today’s world of work and will increase
our student’s success!!
