Greetings Parents and Students:
The past two weeks have us beaming with Cub Pride! We have some fantastic
kids and their academic, civic and athletic accomplishments appear to be
boundless!
Congratulations to our new Student Government Officers: President Darius,
VP Haleigh n, Secretary - Kristen n, and Treasurer - Allison. We look
forward to working together to have a strong SGA. All homeroom reps and
anyone who ran for office are welcome to join SGA. We need all members to
meet in Mrs. Drew’s room for the 1st meeting on Tuesday, March 1st from 2-
3 PM. We can’t make this school the best it can be unless the students are
involved!
Congratulations to the choral solo/ensemble participants that sang at FSU
this weekend. Our school did extremely well and we were proud to bring
home 35 individual superior ratings and 6 excellent ratings. Way to go
Cobb Chorus!
Congratulations to the boys’ basketball team and Coach Cook who defeated
Nims in the Division 1A championship game 50-39. The team finished the
season undefeated and untied! Also, Coach Cook is to be commended for
bringing home championships in both football and basketball in the same
year, a feat that is unprecedented in the district as well! Awesome!!
Congratulations to the girls’ soccer team and Coach Kendall who completed
their season by defeating Griffin 5-0 to claim the Division 1A
championship. They too finished the season undefeated and untied! Coach
Kendall has inspired championships in both volleyball and soccer this
year! Superb!!
Good luck to our students who will compete in the Math Counts Regional
competition on Saturday, March 5th at Chiles High School.
The Black History Brain Bowl team will be competing in the Urban League
Challenge Brain Bowl, Saturday, March 5. Good Luck!!!!
Congratulations to Mrs. Westley, the Black History Committee, students, and
staff for making this year’s Black History commemorations one of our all
time best. The Black History assembly showcased an array of talented
musicians and speakers. The faculty modeled cultural attire from various
regions of the world. We salute the sponsors and participants for
reminding and enlightening us in an entertaining and educational manner of
the contributions that all of our cultures have brought to the shores of
America.
FCAT testing begins Monday and Tuesday of next week. We are asking all
parents to ensure that your child gets eight hours sleep the nights prior
to the test and eats a nutritious breakfast. I just want to remind
everyone that absolutely no cell phones
or any electronic devices are permitted in the classroom during testing.
Not only will they be taken away but possession of these items invalidates
the FCAT. That is a high price to pay. Please help us not to have to
invalidate any test!!

PTO NEWS
• Volunteers are need for classroom assistance during FCAT testing.
Dates are April 7 & 8, 8:30-11:00. If you can volunteer, please contact
Laura Rogers, PTO President, 385-7749.
• Our next meeting is Tuesday, March 8th at 7:00 pm! Join us in the
Media Center—All are welcome
• Don’t forget to sign up for the Albertsons Partner Program and the
Winn-Dixie Rewards Program. Email Laura Rogers at [log in to unmask]
for more information or help.
• The Box Tops 4 Education race is on and we're off to a great
start. Mrs. S. Davis's PC class is in the lead with 391 total Box Tops.
Following is Mrs. Harrell's PC class with 240 Box Tops and Mrs. Simpkins'
PC class is in third with 227.
P/C teachers, keep collecting and bringing in the boxtops and at the end
of the year the top three classes will get a doughnut party and more.
• Don’t throw out those empty computer printer cartridges—they are
worth money to Cobb! Chair Amy Rooks has a box in the PTO room
marked “Cartridges for Kids”. Send them in! If you work in an office that
would donate them, we would appreciate it!
• Cobb Middle School is celebrating its 50th Anniversary and Chairman
Malissa Counts needs all kinds of volunteers for this great celebration.
The Cobb Anniversary has already been mentioned on the WCTV Channel 6 news
and we are trying to get Cobb alumni to join in the fun! You can contact
Malissa at [log in to unmask] to find out more on what we will be
planning.
