“Building the Future Together”

Dear Parents and Students,

There is never a dull moment in the Cub lair. Last month we conducted
school-wide SGA elections. All of the candidates did a fantastic job of
preparing, organizing, and running their campaigns. Thanks to the Leon
County Elections Office, students were able to vote for the candidates of
their choice using the same official voting booths that their parents use.
The students were able to get a taste of the “real deal”! Here are the new
SGA officers for 2003-2004.
President ----- Jessica Jackson Vice President --- Darius Dupins
Secretary ---- Amber Lattimore Treasurer --------- Hillary Clark
We are proud to announce that Beta has gotten off to a great start with
19 out of 21 eligible students joining our National Organization. We have
set our goals for the year at our first meeting, planned community service
activities and look forward to our induction at 2:00 p.m. on Oct 22nd. Keep
your eyes and ears open because this Beta Club is quite the ambitious
group! We also congratulate our newest officers:
President - Neeti Pradeep Vice President - Aaron Brown
Secretary - Mary Beth Waddill Treasurer - Tiffany Branch
Papa John’s Pizza sponsored a pizza party for Mrs. Murphy’s PC class for
having generated more orders than any other PC class during Cobb Night at
Papa John’s in September. Cobb receives 20% of the value of all orders
when the customer states that they are supporters of Cobb Middle School and
states the name of the PC teacher of the student. This Thursday we will
have another Cobb Night for a Papa John’s fundraiser. Please help Cobb and
your child’s class by ordering Papa John’s pizza between 4:00 and 10:00
this Thursday!
The end of the 1st nine-weeks is Thursday, October 16, 2003 and there is
no school for students on Friday, October 17th. Students have worked hard
and a long weekend will get them energized for the start of the 2nd nine-
weeks. Report cards are scheduled to be distributed to the students on
Friday, October 24, 2003.
Parents, if you have not done so already, please read the 2003-2004
Student Code of Conduct Book with your child which was issued with the last
Cub Reporter. Please sign the Notice of Receipt Page along with your child
and have your child to return it to his/her Peer Counseling teacher.
Congratulations to the fighting Cobb Cub football team who is undefeated!
Thrilling victories were waged against the Rams of Raa during the month of
September. The gentlemen of Cobb will play Wednesday, October 15th at 7:00
vs. Nims at Rickards and Tuesday, October 21st at 5:30 in the season finale
against Bellvue at Cox stadium. The championship game will be played
Wednesday, October 29th at 5:30 at Cox Stadium. Please come out and loudly
support our guys!
Congratulations to the girl’s volleyball team. They currently have a 3-
4 record after posting wins in September against Bellvue, Nims, and Ft.
Braden. We have a game Wednesday, October 15th at Griffin prior to
beginning playoff competition on Monday, October 20th at 5:30 p.m. at
Chiles High School. Please come out and support the exciting Lady Cub
volleyball team!
Parents please make sure that your child has an agenda book. All passes
will be listed on the pass pages in the rear of the agenda book. This is
particularly important when a student has been absent from school or is
tardy to school. The office secretary will indicate whether the tardy or
absence is excused or unexcused in the agenda book.
SAC is scheduled to meet Tuesday, October 28th at 12:15 p.m. in the main
office meeting room.
The PTO is scheduled to meet on November 4th at 7:00 p.m. in the Media
Center.
NO HOMEWORK CENTER/AFTER SCHOOL ACTIVITIES ON Tuesday, October 14, or
Thursday, October 16, 2003.
