“Building the Future Together”
Dear Parents and Students,
Greetings! I hope everyone survived Hurricane Jeanne this time. It seems
every time I write to you the good people of the state of Florida have had
another hurricane. Let’s hope there are no more hurricanes this year.
Enough already!!
A lot of activities have been happening lately. Our School Advisory
Council (SAC) had their first meeting of the year and approved our School
Improvement Plan (SIP) for 2004-2005, our End of the Year Report for the
2003-2004 SIP, and our School Recognition Plan for spending our A+ money.
Thanks to all of the parents and staff who supported us in this endeavor
and thanks to Mrs. Bryant for chairing this committee. Our next meeting is
scheduled for Monday, October 18th at 12:45 p.m. in the large conference
room in the main office.
Also, we would like to thank our PTO and Mrs. Rogers for all of her work
this year. We have had so much excitement and we are all anticipating our
MEGA Party for our fundraiser reward. Our next PTO meeting is scheduled
for Tuesday evening, October 12th in the Media Center.
Take a look at the promotional brochure on Cobb’s homepage. Thank you Ms.
Mack, Technology, for adding this new link.
All teachers are now hired and students received their schedule changes on
Monday. Hopefully, all classes are smaller and the students will get used
to their new teachers. Please support us in this endeavor. We know it is
difficult changing classes at this late date, but it is much more
academically sound to have 20+ in a class, rather than 40. Thanks for your
patience and understanding.
We have hired Peggy Maki, teacher in the social studies and wheel area.
Ms. Maki will be teaching out of field.
Cobb received a gift of $10,000 from an anonymous donor. Yeah!! Just in
case you were wondering you too can give a gift to Cobb. A survey was sent
to all faculty and a list was developed of all of our needs. The donor
picked the science department and we are ordering all kind of scientific
equipment for the students and teachers to use. Thanks to all of the
community who supports our school.
A select group of Cobb teachers are having their Professional Development
Plans and their in-service audited. We are looking forward to this
process because we are a beacon model in the state of Florida for the way
we educate ourselves in utilizing scientifically based research to help all
students increase their reading skills. That’s one reason why we are
an “A” school.
Students have been writing to the Writes Upon Requests prompts and doing a
super job. Students are also coming to the end of the first nine week
grading period which ends on October 14th. So, parents please check those
Agenda Books and make sure that your children turn in all of their work.
Cross country, volleyball, and tackle football are still going on. We are
currently undefeated in volleyball and the football team has only lost one
game. Come out and support the students if you can. The games are truly
fun!
As always, thank for your support.

Sincerely,

Lynda Roser, Principal

It feels like we are just beginning our first full week of school because
of all the hurricane days off. I hope all the Cobb families weathered the
storm well. I’d like to thank all the parents that have volunteered for
the activities we’ve had so far.

We do have a few events coming up that you can join in and help:

an easy way to help all the teachers and very flexible hours during the day.
• October 13th Kathryn Beich Catalog Delivery! Call Denni at 385-
1172 if you can help delivery the orders for a few hours.
• December 6th is the Leon County Vision/Hearing Screening exam at
Cobb. Please email Cathy Molitaris at [log in to unmask] if you can
volunteer a work shift to get students to and from the testing areas at
school. Volunteers are needed from 7:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
• PTO meeting is October 12th at 7:00 p.m. in the Media Center. All
are welcome to attend!!
• SAC meeting is October 18th at 12:45 p.m. in the Administration
Meeting room. All are welcome to attend!
