“Building the Future Together”

Dear Parents and Students,

The second nine weeks is in full swing. Students received report
cards last week. Congratulation to the students who got off to a great
start by making the honor roll or improving academically compared to the
final grading period of last year. Parents, please continue to encourage
your students to excel, particularly if they did not meet their academic
goals and your expectations.
Please join Cobb in welcoming Ms. Evelyn Beazley to our staff. Ms.
Beazley is teaching 7th and 8th grade Language Arts. Welcome Ms.
Beazley!!!!
Beta Club inducted 19 new members last week in an inspiring
ceremony coordinated by Mrs. Drew, the club sponsor. Beta is devoted to
the recognition of academic excellence and the pursuit of community
service. Way to go BETA!
Sixth graders are currently presenting their speeches for the
Tropicana Speech Contest. Class winners will compete in the school contest
and the school winner will compete in the district contest. Good Luck to
all!
We are very proud of the Cobb girl’s volleyball team that was
crowned Division I-A Champions last week. These talented young ladies
displayed great sportsmanship and skill as they defeated Griffin 3 games
to1 Monday night at Chiles High School. Congratulations ladies and Coach
Ashley Rice.
The Cobb football team suffered its first defeat in the final game
of the regular season last week at the hands of the Bulldogs of Belle Vue.
The Cubs can avenge the loss this Wednesday in the Divisional Championship
game to be played at 5:30p.m.at Cox Stadium. We need all students and
parents to come out and loudly cheer the Cubs to victory!!
The girls’ basketball team begins its 2003-2004 season on Tuesday,
October 28th at home against the Wolves of Swift Creek at 6:30p.m. Next
Thursday, November 6th we play host to Fairview. Coach Campbell and the
girls have made it known that they want opponents to know that they have
entered the Cub’s den and it is a tough place to play. Come out fans and
support our team with gusto and LOUD CHEERS!
The boys’ soccer team began their season on Monday with a game
against Belle Vue being cancelled due to rain. The game will be
rescheduled for a date to be announced. The next game will be Thursday,
October 30th at 6:00p.m.against Swift Creek. The game will be played at
Messer Park. Coach Diane Kendall and the guys are asking that you come out
and cheer them to victory!
Everyone can help support Cobb students by participating in the
Chic-Fil-A fundraiser on the first Tuesday of each month. Next Tuesday,
November 4th is Cobb Night. Chic-Fil-A will donate 20% of the order price
to Cobb for all orders placed at its North Monroe Street location when you
tell them it is for the Cobb Fundraiser. We will use the funds to support
student activities only. Enjoy a wonderful Chic-Fil-A meal and support the
Cubs in the process.
Congratulations to Mrs. Brierton’s peer counseling class for having
generated more orders than any other PC class during Cobb Night at Papa
John’s on October 16th. Papa John’s will supply pizza and beverages for
the class in the cafeteria on Friday. Cobb receives 20% of the value of
all orders when the customer states that they are supporters of Cobb Middle
School and states the name of the PC teacher of the student. The next Cobb
Night at Papa John’s fundraiser will be Thursday, November 20th. Please
help Cobb and your child’s class by ordering Papa John’s pizza between
4:00 - 10:00p.m.
SACs is scheduled to meet Tuesday, October 28th at 12:15 p.m. in
the main office meeting room.
The PTO is scheduled to meet on November 4th at 7:00 p.m. in the
