“Building the Future Together”

Greetings Parents and Families:

The first nine weeks report cards went home last Wednesday. The majority
of the students’ report cards were wonderful, and we appreciate the parents
and students embracing the learning process and holding on to the value
that a strong educational background is imperative to living in the world
today. Thanks to parents, students and staff for maintaining educational
excellence.

So many exciting things have happened lately. I believe everyone knows
that we won our very first District 1A Tackle Football Championship on
Wednesday night. It was an unbelievable game, and our young men behaved
like champions on the field and in the classrooms and hallways. We are so
very proud of everyone involved and would like to give special thanks to
our head coach Mr. Doug Cook, and to assistant coaches Mr. Ken Carter and
Mr. Ken Nichols.

Please find the Cobb Middle School Extracurricular flyer which lists all of
our after school activities with a brief description. I know many of you
have been looking for this and we finally compiled this document. We still
do not have the homework center up and running, but we are still working on
it. Please don’t give up yet.

Congratulations to Mrs. Oliveri’s PC class for making the most donations to
the hurricane relief efforts. They truly got into the spirit to help
others less fortunate than ourselves. Congratulations to the Beta club for
making a difference!

Congratulations to Graham Hawkes for being our first winner of the T.O.P.
Award. He was nominated by his teachers and will be featured in the
Tallahassee Democrat. He has shown excellence in academics, citizenship,
positive leadership and community service. He received a certificate, a
$50 gift certificate to Books a Million, a $50 check and his name goes on a
perpetual plague which will be housed in the main office. Congratulations
Graham! We are so proud of you!!

Congratulations to Ms. Striegel and Mr. Miller for having students in the
Lincoln Advanced Placement program nominate them as teachers who have made
a difference in their lives. What an honor to be recognized by your former
students.

8th grade parents and students, please remember to bring back your 8th
grade forms no later than November 5th, if you would like to participate in
the 8th grade trip this year!!

Now that we have finished Cross Country, Girls Volleyball, and Tackle
Football, we have started Boys Soccer and Girls Basketball. Come out and
support the teams.

Congratulations to Mr. Sears for winning a Leon Schools Foundation Mini
grant on Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happily Ever After. We are proud
of you for going the extra mile for Cobb students.

We have one more teacher who is out of field. Ms. McBride is teaching one
ESOL student and has a degree in English but is not ESOL endorsed. We
consider her highly qualified and she will begin taking the required
coursework necessary for endorsement.

Lots of exciting events are planned for the next few weeks. Please note
the next Cub Reporter will not come out until November 23rd because of the
holidays. Please note these very important dates coming up:
