“Building the Future Together”

Greetings Parents and Families,

We have been very busy advertising positions and interviewing teachers for
the eight additional teacher units that the district gave us to reduce
class sizes. Hopefully we will have all of the teachers hired within the
next two weeks and then we will open up new sections of classes and move
students into these new classes. Please be patient with us as we go
through this process.

Big News!! Open House this Thursday evening. See the flyer that was sent
home with the Cub Reporter. We will have plenty to eat, singing, and a
chance to meet all of your child’s teachers. We look forward to having all
of the parents attend. Get your child’s schedule from them and report to
Peer Counseling at the first bell.

Cobb had an anonymous donor give $10,000 to buy something special for
students and teachers. Staff submitted wish lists and the donor picked
science software that goes with computers for all of the students. We
would like to give a great big thank you to our donor for keeping Cobb
number one with technology for our students. The order will go in next
week and we should have the material/software in by the end of the month.
Thanks!!!!!!!!!!

All Peer Counseling classes will be electing a Student Government
Representative in the next week or so. Please review the criteria and
encourage your child to take a leadership role. Later in the fall, we will
be electing Student Government Officers. These positions are very
important to us because the students have an active part in our SITE based
decision making process.

Also going home today with the Cub Reporter is a flyer on Parent
Workshops. The workshop is provided by the Department of Education’s
Coordinated School Health Program to improve the communication skills
between parents and children.

Look for information to be coming home regarding the 8th Grade Trip in the
very near future.

Please note the following important dates:

getting in touch with you soon if you signed up for a committee. Please
email me at [log in to unmask] if you want to volunteer on anything.
We’ve had requests for help copying at the school to help the teachers.
This is a great way for people to donate that 1 hour per week that the
state allows! Let me know if you can assist!

Parents, Cobb English teachers are requesting you to donate the books that
your student(s) read on the summer reading list. They will compile
a “lending library” from these books that the students can enjoy.

Dear Parents and Educators:
The Department of Education’s Coordinated School Health Program (CSHP) is

addressing issues, and answer questions regarding this subject. The goal
of this workshop is to help parents feel more at ease when discussing the
issue of sexuality with their children.
The parent workshop will be offered on September 29, 2004, in Pensacola, at
the University of West Florida Conference Center and October 6, 2004, in
Tallahassee, at the Leon County Civic Center from 7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
