Dear Parents,

Cobb Middle School along with Leon County Schools, is coordinating efforts
to help provide assistance to families that have been displaced because of
Hurricane Katrina. There are many ways that you as a member of our school
family can get involved. We are listing below several different ways and
solicit your input on any others. The Leon County School District
developed a district-wide campaign to aid in the Hurricane Katrina Disaster
Relief Drive. With all of us working together, we will be able to make a
significant financial contribution that will have a greater impact than
each of us working independently.

We will be collecting any amount of money that a family or student would
like to contribute. As you know from the letter I sent last Friday, your
child can bring contributions to his/her homeroom teacher beginning
Tuesday, September 6, and we will take contributions until September 23rd.
Our PTO will be selling pizza dinners during Open House on September 8th,
from 5:30pm until 6:30 pm. A portion of the proceeds from the pizza dinner
sells will also be added to the Hurricane Katrina Disaster Relief Drive.
During our Open House, each homeroom will have a student representative
from Beta, Cheerleading, or Chorus with an envelope ready for other
contributions you as a parent would like to make. If you would like to
write a check, please make the check payable to Cobb Middle School.

At the district level, middle school Tackle Football games and girls’
volleyball games will increase their admission price by $1.00. The ticket
price for football will increase from $3.00 to $4.00 and girls volleyball
will increase from $1.00 to $2.00. This increase will go directly to the
Hurricane Katrina Disaster Relief Drive. On the back of this letter is an
outline of the Hurricane Relief Efforts the Leon County School District has
in place.

Please feel free to call me at 488-3364 for further information. I
encourage everyone to participate in any way you feel appropriate. Thank
you for all that you do as parents.

Sincerely,

Shannon Meeks
Principal
