Greetings Parents & Students,

Progress Reports go home Friday, November 15th. The 2nd nine
weeks ends December 20, 2002. Can you believe the school year is
almost half way over?

Girls’ Basketball and Boys’ Soccer are in full swing. The teams are
doing a super job, and the school is full of spirit and pride.

Congratulations to Crystal Anderson, Rainie Guthrie, Sarah Fernald
and Jon Mathes for making the 300 statewide Chorus for Allstate.
Way to go!!! We are so proud of you!!

A special congratulations to Jan Graham and Susan Harris for
receiving the 2002-2003 Mini-Grant Winners, and Jan Graham and
Bev Simpkins for being the 2002-2003 Technology Grant winners from
the Leon County Schools’ Foundation. We are so proud of teachers
who go the extra mile to help the school and the students.

Trying to ensure that all students are successful and will meet grade
promotion requirements, beginning November 18 we will be
assigning a two hour after-school detention to students signing in to
school tardy unexcused. Hopefully, this will ensure that all students
will be able to pass their first period class.

Please check the LCS web page for specific dates for sports if they
are not listed in the Cub Reporter. Special activities coming up are as
follows:
 Nov. 15 Progress Reports
 Nov. 20 Writes Upon Request
Nov. 27-29 Thanksgiving Holidays (no school)
 Dec. 5 Club Pictures
Dec. 5 SGA Dance (after school 2-4)

Because the Thanksgiving Holidays occur so quickly, the next Cub
Reporter will go home on December 10. The Cub Claws will also be
mailed in the month of December.

PTO NEWS

BOX TOPS FOR EDUCATION!
We've all seen them and at one time or another cut them out. That's
right. We are collecting "Box Tops for Education" to help raise funds for
our great school! Please remove the "Box Tops for Education" coupon
that you will find on most General Mills food products, collect them in a
baggie and send them in to your homeroom teacher or the front office.
Make sure you put your homeroom teacher's name on the baggie.
The room that collects the most will receive a SURPRISE! Thanks in
advance for your participation.

8TH GRADE TRIP – UNIVERSAL STUDIOS ISLANDS OF ADVENTURE
We have a few openings left for students to attend our 8th grade trip
May 16, 2003. If you missed the original October 25th payment and
registration deadline, but still would like to attend, we have extended
registration until Friday, December 4th – or until we reach our cap of
150 students, whichever comes first. Students should contact their
PC teacher for an information sheet and permission form. Please call
Julie Doherty, 385-0506, if you have any questions. We are looking
forward to a great time in Orlando!

Next Cub Reporter will go home December 10, 2002
