We inducted 11 new members into Beta Club. These students have held a 3.75
grade point average for three grading terms and have excellent
citizenship. We look forward to working together at school and in our
community to make our students effective leaders. We welcome Stephanie,
Hilary, Cory, Arielle, Emily, Geoffrey, Bradley, Talissa, Kathleen, Connor,
Caroline, Andrea, and Brittany. All of these students are to be commended
for their outstanding achievement.
The Book Fair was also a huge success! Thanks to all of the parents and
students who helped with all three of these wonderful events!!!
Progress Reports went home on Tuesday, November 16th. While most of the
reports were extremely positive, there were many that were not. Parents,
please help your children to be organized with their work. We spend a
great deal of time teaching organizational skills, but we find many times
that the students just don’t turn their work in to the teacher. Please
lend assistance however you can to help the students be successful.
Congratulations to all of the Algebra and Geometry students who
participated in the Mu Alpha Theta contest over the weekend. Cobb placed
3rd in Algebra I and in the top 10 for Geometry. Thanks to the great math
students for showing everyone that math is fun and that Cobb is a great
school! Thanks to Mr. Coleman for sponsoring these activities!!
Health screenings are still on for 11/29 and 12/6.
Congratulations to Brandon for being selected to participate in the 7th and
8th grade All-State Honor Band in Tampa in January. In addition, we are so
proud of Brittany, Rebecca, Amy, Andrea, Ashley, Juliet, Charlene, Carol,
Camille, and Kayla. They were named as being in the top 300 students in
middle school choral music in the State. We are so excited to have so many
Cobb students chosen to go to the All-State Choral Performance. They
worked very hard and had to pass 3 tests to make this honor. Way to go
girls! Thanks to Mr. Miller and Mrs. Drew for having great bands and
chorus at Cobb Middle School.
Congratulations to the following 12 students for making the first cut for
the 2005 Cobb Brain Bowl Team: Amy, Andre, Brandon, Brian, Connor, Emily,
Graham, Jason, Joseph, Michael, Michael, and Taylor. We congratulate you
all on a job well done!!
Parents, we need your help with several items. Students are bringing CD
players, CD’s, phones, cards, etc. to school. These items do not belong in
school and these items are getting stolen. Please instruct your children
to not bring these articles to school, but if they need to bring a
phone…..that item must be kept on their person or in their locker. If the
teachers see any of these items, they have been instructed to take them.
Thanks!! Secondly, book bags are not permitted in the classrooms. This
includes sacks, duffle bags, overly large handbags or beach bags. The new
fashioned sacks or draw string bags are still considered book bags and are
also not allowing in the classrooms and must remain in the student’s
lockers. We will review this with students but please help us reinforce
this at home. Thanks!!
The Girl’s Basketball and Boy’s Soccer teams are really doing well this
year. Come out and support the teams and watch some super games.

We wish you and your family the happiest of Thanksgiving!!

As always, thanks for your support.

Lynda Roser, Principal

the fundraiser!
2. Classic Cookie Dough was delivered! Chairman Vickie Childers and
her committee coordinated pick-up schedules last week and we hope all of
the orders have been picked up. Please contact her if you have not picked
up your order at 386-5689. Thank you to all of you who supported this
fundraiser.
3. There is no PTO Meeting in December! Happy Holidays!
4. The Book Fair last week was a great success. Media Specialist, Ms.
Beyer, appreciated all the volunteers that helped with check-out and
assisting students with their purchases.
5. November 29th and December 6th is the Leon County Vision/Hearing
Screening exam at Cobb. Because of the number of students, we are doing
this for two days! Please email Cathy Molitaris at
[log in to unmask] if you can volunteer a work shift to get students
to and from the testing areas at school. Volunteers are needed from 7:30
a.m. – 1:50 p.m.
6. Don’t forget to sign up for the Albertsons Partner Program and the
Winn-Dixie Rewards Program. Email Laura Rogers at [log in to unmask]
for more information or help.
7. While you are making all your grocery purchases, please save the
General Mills BoxTops for our students. Each Box Top is worth 10 cents.
This really adds up in money for our school. The students’ Peer Counsel
classrooms are having a contest, so send them in!
8. Our T-shirts and shorts from Florida Tees are in! Please fill out
the order form to place your order for Cobb Spirit items. Place order form
