Greetings Parents & Students,

Thanks for a superb Open House last night! The PTO did a fabulous
job with the cookout, Mrs. Gladden’s classes had the best desserts
around, the Chorus performed like angels, and the teachers did a
fabulous job in presenting an overview of the classroom. Thanks to
all the parents who participated and worked to make this a great Open
House.

The PTO fundraiser was handed out on Wednesday. Please support
the PTO in their endeavors to raise money for the school. This year
they have targeted several large items to help support the classroom.

Next week during the day (Sept. 16 - Sept 20) includes:
Monday - 7th grade Health Screening
Tuesday - Student Government (SGA) Elections
Wednesday - Progress Reports go home
Thursday - Cross Country at Chiles
              Picture Day
Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday-After School Homework Center

Night Activities September 17-September 30:
September 17-Football Jamboree, Deerlake vs. Cobb, Cox Stadium
September 19-Volleyball, Cobb vs. Deerlake at Cobb 6:30
September 24-Tackle Football-Cobb vs. Griffin, Cox Stadium, 5:30
September 25-Vollelyball, Cobb vs. Fairview at Fairview, 6:30
September 30-Volleyball, Cobb vs. Swift Creek at Swift Creek, 6:30

Please encourage your children to get involved in Student
Government. We strongly encourage students to understand and
participate in the democratic process. Students help make decisions
through our School Improvement Team, and we value their concerns
and input.

Also, mark your calendars for the Progress Report to go home Sept.
18th. This is the half way mark to let you know how your child is doing
in class.

The following big event of the week, during the day, is the first Writes
Upon Request (WUR) which will be given on Wednesday, September
25th. Remember, all students in 7th & 8th grade must make at least a
3.0 on both expository and persuasive; 6th graders must make a 3.0
on one of the two aforementioned areas.

Thanks for your continued support.

PTO NEWS

Parents – I hope everyone who attended our Open House enjoyed
meeting your child’s teachers, I know I did. I don’t have the final
numbers, but we sold quite a few hot dog dinners and spirit items. By
now, you should have received the packet for our Fall Fundraiser,
please take this to work and see if any of your co-workers would like to
buy some wrapping paper or candy. Remember every little bit goes a
long way to reaching our goal. In addition to the Fall Fundraiser, you
may consider making a donation to the PTO. We still do not have a
Partner Coordinator. This person is the contact with our Partners and
work toward finding new Partners. The Partners help the school out in
several ways by providing judges for the science fair, etc. If you are
interested, please give me a call at 893-7489. Remember our next
PTO meeting is on October 3 at 12:30 in the meeting room in the front
office. Hope to see you there!!

KATHERINE BEICH/NESTLE FUNDRAISER SALE: All students
should have brought home a catalog last week. If your student needs
another catalog there are catalogs available in the front office.
Students will be awarded prizes based on the number of items they
sell. The top two sellers will receive a special $50 prize in addition to
the prizes listed on the prize brochure. All students who sell at least
10 items will also receive a nestle candy and soft drink with their lunch
after the sale ends in the near future. Remember that all checks need
to be made out to Cobb Middle School PTO and that you MUST
COLLECT TAX. The sale ends on Friday, October 4 and all orders and
money must be in by that date. If you have any questions please call
