Listserv Announcements for the week of October 6th – 10th

FOOTBALL
Tuesday, October 7th - Cobb vs. Fairview @ LINCOLN H.S. – 6:30 p.m.

VOLLEYBALL
Monday, October 6th – Cobb vs. Deerlake @ COBB M.S. – 6:00 p.m.

PARENT DROP OFF
Please do not drop your child off on Hillcrest Street. Students are darting
across the road and it is not safe. Parents please go through the entrance
on Lucy Street and drop your child off in front of the gymnasium. We know
the line and the wait can be long, but parents who are dropping students
off on Hillcrest Street are creating problems for parents exiting the
campus and it is dangerous for the students.

END OF THE FIRST GRADING PERIOD
Thursday, October 16th marks the end of the first grading period. Please
take time to review with your child the promotion requirements for their
grade level. A link to the district promotion brochure can be found on the
school homepage or by going to:
http://www.tandl.leon.k12.fl.us/Promotion_Brochures.htm

SCHOOL-WIDE READING PROJECT
All students and staff at Cobb Middle School will begin reading the book
The Revealers by Doug Wilhelm. The book addresses the issue of a boy who is
bullied and how he and his friends ban together to find a solution to the
bullying situation at their school. Students and staff will spend the first
few minutes of their Peer Counseling class reading the novel and
participating in activities centered around the book. Students and staff
will begin reading the book on Monday, September 29th. Culminating
activities include a writing and poetry contest as well as a class door
decorating contest. Parents are invited to read the novel along with their
student.
