PRINCIPAL’S PAWS
We did a great job on the FCAT Writing and Leon County Writes Upon Request
assessments this week! The children (grades 1-5) all worked very hard,
applied what they have learned about writing, and did their best work! We
had 99% attendance in the fifth grade! With more FCAT and SAT/9 testing
ahead, please keep in mind that student attendance on test days is very
important! Keep up that great work!

MS. HOPE’S CORNER
Kudos to Mrs. Kilpatrick and the chorus for an excellent school wide
program on Thursday, February 12th in observance of Black History Month.
Two daytime programs were held and the students were most attentive. I am
sure that the music was the first thing to capture their attention. I am
also certain, however, that some of the historic facts that preceded each
song will remain with them. For the parents who were unable to attend, you
missed a treat.

week. We are asking for donations of clothing in any of the sizes below.

· Size 12 girls, 7 ˝ shoe

PICTURE DAY
Spring picture order forms were sent home this week with the students.
Picture Day is Friday, February 20 and they are prepaid. The student needs
to hand the payment envelope to the photographer. Extra order forms are
available in the front office.

GOOD NEWS
Brittany Charles went to New Orleans, Louisiana for a National Cheerleading
Competition in January. Brittany and her team from Cheer Tech came in 1st
Place Nationally. Congratulations Brittany!

PARKING REMINDER
We are having some problems with parents parking in front of the dumpster
at the back of the school. Our parking spaces are clearly marked and need
to be followed. Waste Management does not have time to wait for cars to be
moved. Also remember that the front of the school is our bus ramp and
needs to be kept clear between 7:00am-7:45am and 1:00pm-1:50pm for the
students to load and unload in safety.

COMCAST CARES
Comcast Cares Day proved that Comcast really does care!! Comcast provided
our media center with approximately 30 volunteers on October 4th. These
volunteers helped with marking our AR books and sprucing up our TV studio.
They also provided us with a brand new camcorder for our morning show! We
were so excited to have this help from such a caring group. And in
addition to this manpower help, we received a check for over $1500.00
dollars as a grant from The Comcast Foundation in recognition of the local
Comcast employee volunteers and their families who volunteered in October.
We are exceedingly grateful for this contribution and overwhelmed with
Comcast’s dedication to our schools.
