Wow!  Our parent attendance at the Writing Seminar last night was
phenomenal!  We had 80 parents present as Gia Kolias from Student
Assessment discussed the Writes Upon Request and FCAT Writing Assessments.
Since our turn out was so great, we have planned additional parent seminars
on the other required testing that students in grades 1-5 will take in the
spring.  Please mark your calendar now and plan to attend!
• Parent Seminar on Reading Testing – Tuesday, January 11th, 5:30 p.m.
• Parent Seminar on Math Testing – Tuesday, February 8th, 5:30 p.m.
Once again, we will have snacks, drinks, babysitting and a pizza party for
the class with the highest percentage of parent participation at grades K-2
and 3-5.

Special thanks to Publix Vineyard for supplying our snacks, Cathy Davis and
our Extended Day Program staff for providing babysitting services, Kim
Williams and our PTO for providing the drinks and selling their 3-5th grade
FCAT preparation materials, and all of the teachers who attended.

The PTO has 3rd, 4th & 5th grade FCAT test preparation materials available
for purchase.  Workbooks are DIFFERENT than the ones we use at school, so
they should be great for practice at home.  Send in your check made out to
Chaires PTO for the total dollar amount with the order form below to the
front office.  We will send the workbooks home with students on the
following school day.
