PRINCIPAL’S PAWSE
I would like to thank all of the parents that, on a regular basis, follow
our routines and procedures! But there are parents that I really need to
ask for your help. Often times students wonder why we have certain rules.
For the most part, our rules are geared toward a safe and orderly learning
environment. Children sometimes receive mixed messages when they see adults
not following rules. We are asking for all parents to help set a good
example for our students by following our school procedures. Here are some
of our most problematic areas at this time:
1. Students are being dropped off prior to supervision starting. Students
should not be dropped off in the car area until 7:00 a.m. (when an adult is
on duty to supervise them, and other adults are in place to supervise on
the playgrounds.)
2. We prefer for all car riders to use the car drop off area, however
students who arrive by car at the front of the school should have parents
park their car in designated spaces in the parking lot and an adult should
safely escort the child all the way across to the sidewalk. Designated
spaces are #23-36. These are spaces closest to the Extended Day portable,
in front of the 700 building near the 3-5 playground.
3. Students who arrive after 7:30 are late. They should be walked in to
the office by an adult and signed in at the front office. No one should
pull up at the bus ramp and drop children off and send them to class.
(Children who arrive late without a tardy stamp or note will be sent back
to the office to sign in.)
4. Adults arriving on campus should always check in at the front office.
5. Some parents walk their children in to school and to the class each
morning. It's important that all children report to their assigned morning
supervision areas, even when they are with their parents. PLEASE DO NOT
BLOCK THE HALLWAYS BY THE PLAYGROUNDS.
6. It's also very important to respect instructional time. Once the first
bell rings, the teachers are on the go! They need to pick up the children
and start class immediately. Please respect their time by promptly ending
a conference or conversations with a teacher when the first bell rings.
This will really help students to get off to a great start, too!

We understand that parents are in hurry and might be late to work, but our
number one goal is student safety. Parents are welcome to drop children
off as early as 7:00 and the children seem to enjoy playing on the
playground with their friends before school. The car ramp traffic actually
starts at about 7:20, so if you could arrive a couple of minutes earlier,
everyone could use the car ramp at the back of the school, and many of
these concerns would be resolved. And we'd all be setting a great example
for our kids showing that all rules apply to everyone, even if we don't
really like them. I appreciate your support!

MRS. MCCASKILL’S CORNER
Our students were wonderful during the first week of testing. They were
rested and focused. We have one more week of testing. We want you to
continue to encourage our boys and girls to get a good night’s sleep, eat a
good breakfast and to stay focused. I would like to commend the parents
for your support in getting the students to school on time. “You are the
Greatest.”
The 5th grade students only will take the Science SSS Session 5 on Monday
(March 7, 2005) and Science SSS Session 6 on Tuesday (March 8, 2005).
All students (Grades 3-5) will take the NRT Reading and Mathematics on
Wednesday, March 9, 2005. Again, thank you for your continued support!

TALLAHASSEE VOICES
The Leon County School district has the opportunity to participate in a
community project called Tallahassee Voices. This community survey is
sponsored by the Tallahassee Democrat and Kerr and Downs Research. This on-
line survey allows several thousand people to quickly provide their input
on issues important to the community. In return for the active involvement
of our Leon County Employees and parents, the district will be able to use
Tallahassee Voices to solicit input on school issues. Please click on the
link www.tallahasseevoices.com and sign up to participate. When more voices
are heard, better decisions can be made.

Please mark your calendar and plan to join us for these upcoming events!
Please note that the items with an X indicate that we will be seeking
