PRINCIPAL’S PAWS
We've had an exciting week with many recognitions! Special thanks to
Publix who continues to help us provide student recognition in MANY areas
such as the Empty Cot Award and Safety Award. Thanks to Mr. Dave
Krambeck, our wonderful Kindergarten Dad with the Woodfruitticher Company
who has supplied us with many cookies for our Golden Spoon Award winning
classes for great lunchroom behavior. Our goal is to make positive
behavior an expectation and a "cool" thing so that all of our children will
want to be on their best behavior all the time. I would also like to thank
our Vineyard Publix for providing doughnuts and juice for our FCAT Saturday
sessions! We have many children spending extra time at school on Saturday
mornings to prepare for the big test. Also, special thanks to our many
teachers who are volunteering their time to help prepare students.

MS. HOPE’S CORNER
Parents are encouraged to mark and/or review their calendars for the
upcoming week. On Tuesday, February 10, 2004 students in grades 1,2,3 and
5 will be writing to a prompt provided by the district while the 4th
graders will be taking the FCAT Writing Test. Parents, please make sure
that your children are in school and here on time. Also, during the week of
February 16th, FCAT Practice Tests will be administered in the classes and
students, upon completion, will be allowed to take them home.

CHANNEL 27 NEWS
Students from Mrs Turner’s 1st grade class will be broadcasting our school
lunch menu on WTXL channel 27 or cable channel 7 morning news show next
week. Shonda McKnight, the morning news anchor, came to the school on
Thursday to tape the students. They have all done a wonderful job. The
morning show airs Monday through Friday from 5:30am-7:00am. The lunch menu
is shown every half hour during the show. Stay tuned.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY
We have missed a special birthday announcement in last month’s
newsletter. Happy Belated Birthday to Dr. Patterson. As many of you
know, Dr. Patterson was the former Principal at Chaires for 14 years. We
miss you and hope you had a wonderful birthday.

ART NEWS
Attention 5th Grade Students: As we continue to study Ancient Greek culture
and the impact it has on our modern culture, art and architecture, you will
have a homework assignment. Our next project is to design a replica of
Greek Pottery. We will be using paper Mache’ and recycled containers.
Please bring to the art room;
2 liter empty soda or juice bottles
empty clean margerine tubs or microwave meal bowls

Each student needs only one bottle and a few of the other pieces. We will
start this project in two weeks. A note will be sent home as a reminder.

Congratulations to our winning clinic award classes. Ms. Blair’s class won
the Safety Award by having the least number of visits to the clinic for

delicious cupcake party provided by Publix, one of our school partners.
