PRINCIPALˇ¦S PAWS
Have you noticed the blooms on the trees and warmer weather? Spring has
begun! I would like to remind you of the school dress code since we'll be
seeing more children in shorts and skirts due to the warmer weather.
„h Midriffs will not be exposed.
„h All shorts, skirts, and dresses must extend beyond the student's
fingertips when arms are extended at the side.
„h Appropriate undergarments must be worn and must not be visible.
„h No hats are to be worn inside the buildings.
„h Tops must have straps wider than two inches. No halter tops or shirts
with spaghetti straps will be permitted.
„h Clothing that contains an obscene message, promotes illegal activities,
drugs, racism, alcohol, gang symbols, tobacco or any other inappropriate
slogan is not permitted.
„h Oversized tank tops must be worn with a T-shirt.
„h No make-up, perfume/cologne, nail polish, or lotion can be brought to
school. Lotion will be permitted for medical conditions only and must go
through the school clinic.
„h Pants must be worn at the waist. This may require a belt.
„h No flip flops, strapless sandals, slides, or platform shoes will be
allowed. (These types of shoes pose a safety risk when children are at
P.E., running on the playground, etc.)
When a student is not dressed appropriately, you will be sent a notice
explaining how the dress code was violated, and the student will be given
an article of clothing to wear during the school day (if available.) After
the second violation, a parent/guardian will be contacted by phone, and you
will be asked to bring your child a change of clothing. After the third
violation, a conference will be requested.
We appreciate your support!

MS. HOPEˇ¦S CORNER
With the exception of a few make-ups to be done, we have finished the FCAT
for grades 3-5. Next, we have the SAT/9 for students in grades 1-2 starting
March 30 - April 2, 2004. Again, it is important that students be in
attendance and on time each day. Prior to SAT/9 testing, however, is the
much needed and deserved Spring Break. Students will not be in school
Monday, March 22 through Friday, March 26, 2004. While this will be a time
to relax and rejuvenate, we have one more nine weeks in school. Students
tend to become complacent and less focused after testing, Spring Break and
during the last nine weeks. Parents, please speak with your children about
this "trend." Extra effort during the last nine weeks might make the
difference in whether a child is promoted or retained.

EXTENDED DAY CAMP
Come join the Chaires Extended Day Enrichment Program for a week full of
animal wonders. Experience the marvels of the animal kingdom. Learn how
animals use camouflage, glow in the dark, and do amazing things to survive
in our world. Find out which animals are the fastest flying, strangest
looking, the largest, the oldest living, the loudest, the fastest running,
the most intelligent, and much more! Look for the Spring Break Camp flyer
in your childˇ¦s backpack next week. Register now! Limited enrollment!
Chaires will be the only school offering Spring Break Camp this year. Call
Cathy Davis at 922-2866 for more information.
