Dear Chaires Parents,
We wanted to give you an update on our situation at Chaires this morning.
As employees arrived for work this morning, they spoke with a lady in a
truck in out front that had three flat tires. The lady had been a victim
of domestic abuse and her assailant had fled the scene. The office staff
contacted the Leon County Sheriff’s Department as well as medical services
to treat the victim.

As I was in contact with the office staff prior to arriving, I saw the
assailant walking down Chaires Cross Road toward Apalachee Parkway before
7:00 a.m. We again contacted the Sheriff’s Department, this time with his
description. We were also able to contact the parents of the children
whose bus stops are in that area before they left for the bus, so that they
would not be in harms way.

As children arrived on campus, we immediately moved them indoors and kept
them closely supervised until we were given the “all clear” from the Leon
County Sheriff’s deputies at approximately 7:45 a.m.

As always, the children did a fabulous job of following the directions of
the adults. And, the adults did a great job of monitoring and assisting
the students.

Please feel free to contact me if you have additional questions or
concerns.
Sincerely,

Christi Moss
Principal
