It's been another exciting week at Chaires Elementary School! Everyone is
learning the routines and expectations of their new grade levels. Now, we
need to make sure that all of our parents are following our drop off and
arrival procedures, too! For the parents who drop children off at school,
please be sure to drop children off at the BACK of the main school or the
FRONT of the Little Chaires building. It really helps the supervision
staff if you stay in your car and have the child in the passenger side of
the back seat as you pull all the way forward. Please be sure NOT to drop
children off in front of the main building. It becomes a real safety issue
for your children when we don't all follow the rules. Enough fussing!

I look forward to seeing all of you at our OPEN HOUSE on MONDAY, AUGUST
28th from 6:00-7:00 p.m. Come out early to enjoy a family pizza dinner
sponsored by the PTO! See the details below.

 SIGN RENTAL
The Chaires Panther PTO will be renting the sign again this year. The sign
is located at the entrance to the bus ramp at the front of the school.
Parents may rent the sign from Saturday-Tuesday or Wednesday - Friday for
positive messages only. In order to reserve the sign, complete an order
form found in the front office. The cost is $15.00. Orders will be taken
of a first come, first served basis. For more information please call
Linda Melvin at 878-8534.
CLEMONS CORNER
We have just completed our first two weeks of the 2006-2007 school year!
Teachers have been busy sharing and modeling the routines and rules of
their class. As I walk through the buildings, I can see that our students
have quickly learned what is expected of them. Knowing how committed our
Chaires' parents are to the success of their child, I am asking that each
parent stress the importance of following all school rules with their
child. Iˇ¦m sure you would agree more learning takes place in a safe and
orderly classroom. Thanks for all of your support in helping us make sure
all children have the best possible educational experience.

CLINIC NEWS
In attempt to decrease the spread of flu and other communicable diseases in
the school setting, Leon County School Health and Nursing Services is
asking all parents to adhere to the following guidelines:
„X If your child complains of flu-like symptoms, such as body aches,
headache, chronic cough, vomiting, diarrhea, or fever, please keep your
child out of school. If your child does not feel well, he/she is not able
to learn and other children may become sick.
„X Children must be vomiting and fever-free for a minimum of 24 hours
and not taking anti-fever medication such as Tylenol or Advil.
„X Do not send your child to school with medication. Parents must
bring any medication to school and complete a Medication Permission Form.
„X Please update the emergency phone numbers for your child if your
have moved, changed or added new numbers. It is very important to be able
to contact a responsible adult in the event of an illness or accident at
school.
Thank you for your cooperation. With your help, we can keep our children
healthy and able to learn.
Upcoming Events!

Please mark your calendar and plan to join us for these upcoming events!
Please note that the items with an X indicate that we will be seeking
parent volunteers to assist us. If you are able to assist, please contact
the front office by calling 878- 8534.
