I have been asked to share this with our school community. If you should
have any special questions regarding this bulletin, please contact Mrs.
Iris Wilson, Assistant Superintendent.

The School Board of Leon County voted in November to cancel summer school
for the 2001-2002 school year due to a severe budget reduction as a result
of the tragic events of September 11.

Our District continues intensified remedial efforts for those students on
Regular Pupil Progression who may have been at risk in meeting grade level
promotional criteria. Those K-8 students who, despite such remedial
effort, will not meet promotional requirements by May 27 are to be retained
or placed for good cause in accordance with the D-30 Administrative
Procedure.

Students in grades 9-12 will have the opportunity to earn credit for a
course which was failed during the 2003-2004 school year, and which is
required for graduation. To be eligible, the student shall obtain written
permission of the LCS principal prior to course enrollment. Credit will be
accepted only from those schools and/or programs, which are accredited by
the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) or by a comparable
accrediting agency. All coursework must be completed prior to the start of
the 2004/05 school year.
