PRINCIPAL’S PAWSE
Chaires Elementary is helping Florida Healthy Kids inform families about
the 30-day open enrollment period for affordable healthcare coverage
available to uninsured children in Florida.
Beginning Jan. 1, 2005, qualified families can enroll their children in
KidCare by simply completing a one-page application, along with income
verification documents, and mailing it back by Jan. 30, 2005. No
applications can be processed after the last day of this open enrollment
period and health coverage will begin after eligibility has been determined
and the full premium amount has been received. “Parents can make a New
Year’s resolution to enroll their uninsured children in this program,” said
Rose Naff, executive director of Healthy Kids. “What better way to start
off the New Year than to have the peace of mind that you can take your kids
to the doctor instead of the emergency room when they’re sick.”
Since it began in 1990, Florida Healthy Kids has offered working
families access to high-quality doctors and preventative care for their
children at a low cost. KidCare now covers more than 300,000 children
statewide. “Regular doctor’s visits and immunizations help keeps kids
healthy and medical insurance costs down,” said Rose Naff. The Healthy Kids
program helps the working families in our community and gives kids the
health coverage they need. Applications are available on the Internet at
www.healthykids.org or by calling toll free, 1-888-540-KIDS (888-540-5437).
