PRINCIPAL¡¦S PAWS
The Chaires Family along with Student Council will be accepting donations
on behalf of the Hurricane victims of Florida. Any clothing in decent
condition, toiletry items, school supplies, blankets, sheets, etc., will be
greatly appreciated. You may deliver these items to your child¡¦s teacher
or drop them by the guidance office. Your contribution is greatly valued.
Let¡¦s make this a 100% participation project!

MRS. MCCASKILL¡¦S CORNER
The Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literacy Skills (DIBELS) assessments
are a set of standardized individually administered measures of early
literacy development. They are designed to be short (one minute) fluency
measures used to regularly monitor the development of pre-reading and early
reading skills. Grades K-5 are tested four (4) times a year. This allows
us to monitor our students' reading growth and to detect any problems they
may have in reading early. Our students have been involved in DIBELS
during the weeks of August 16 - September 30, 2004. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT
THAT ALL PARENTS schedule and attend a conference with your child's teacher
during the first grading period. HAVE A WONDERFUL WEEKEND!

FAMILY PHOTOS
On Tuesday, October, 12 from 2:00p.m. until 7:00p.m., Leonard¡¦s will be at
Chaires taking Family Photographs. To schedule your family¡¦s appointment,
please call Marjie at 878-8534. Pricing information is available in the
front office. Photographs must be paid for at the time of the sitting.
Due to AC construction in building 400, the photos will be taken in the
Cafeteria on the stage. Individual pictures will be taken on Wednesday,
October, 13 for all students.

Office and A Child is Missing, Inc. are presenting a community meeting.

6:45 to 8:00p.m. Find answers to important questions like¡K What happens
when your child goes missing?
What can organizations like A Child Is Missing and The Amber Alert do to
help law enforcement find your child?
How can you keep your child safe on the internet?
What should you know about sexual predators in your neighborhood?
For additional information please call Ron Steverson at 487-7101 or Vicki
Shahady at 954-1288.

BUS RIDERSHIP CARDS
Students are coming home with a yellow FEFP Ridership Card. Students need
to give this card to their bus driver anytime during the week of October
7th-October 14th. Even if your child does not normally ride the bus, we
encourage them to ride at least once during this 1-week period as it brings
in funds to the transportation department.

School Advisory Council
The School Advisory Council will hold an open hearing of the School
Improvement Plan for the 2004/2005 school year on Monday, October, 11 at
5:30 in the media center. All parents are welcome to join us.

no personal checks will be accepted. The deadline for ticket orders is
Wednesday, October 13th. We will send the tickets home with your child on
Thursday, October 14th. Please note that all tickets are $20.00 on game

CHANGE OF CLOTHES
This message is for the parents of our younger students. You will want to
be sure that your child has a seasonal change of clothes in their backpack
in the event of an emergency. We are very limited to the extra clothes
that we have available in the clinic. This will be very helpful to us!

UPCOMING EVENTS
Please mark your calendar and plan to join us for these upcoming events!
Please note that the items with a ƒÀ indicate that we will be seeking parent
volunteers to assist us. If you are able to assist, please contact the
