It's been another exciting week at Chaires!  We finished the week with a
visit for our 4th & 5th graders from Olympic Speed Skater, Anthony Lobello;
Vineyard Publix helping children to decorate Mothers' Day cakes; and our
last hat day of the year!  We appreciate all of the children who have
participated in hat days throughout the year as this is one of our main
fundraisers for the Chaires Cares Relay for Life team.  If you're out at
the fair grounds tonight or tomorrow, please stop by the Chaires tent and
walk a few laps with us as we work together to find a cure for Cancer!

Honor Roll Assemblies
There was an error in the times for the Honor Roll Assemblies for Monday,
May 22, 2006.  The correct times are as follows:  K-1 at 8:00am; 2-3 at
9:30am; and 4th at 8:45am.

CHAIRES SUMMER CAMP
Register now for the Chaires Summer Space Camp!  Limited enrollment!!! Come
and join the Chaires Summer Fun Camp for an exciting 9 weeks of “SPACE
CAMP”. Participate in our fun field trips: Pirate Ship Cruise, Wild
Adventures, Chuck E. Cheese, IMAX Theatre, Planetarium, Crenshaw Lanes, Fun
Station, Jack Mc Lean Pool, Mad Science, African Hand Drumming, Piano
Lessons, Crafts, bi-weekly themes and more special events.  Camp begins
June 5th and ends August 4th, 2006. We will be open from 7 AM to 6 PM
daily, with the exception of July 3rd and 4th.Call Cathy Davis at 922-2866
to get a registration packet or for more information.

HAVE MORE FUN WITH WFSU
You are invited to a Birthday Fiesta for Maya and Miguel! Join us on
Saturday, May 13, 2006 from 10:00am-12:00pm at the Fun Station, 2821 Sharer
Road.  Enjoy songs, stories, fun and games with a Mexican flair as we
celebrate with the stars of the PBS Kids show, "Maya and Miguel".  It's the
perfect event to bring your children or grandchildren for a few hours of
fun!  This is a FREE event and everyone is invited! The first 100 children
will receive a special birthday surprise.  WFSU Kid's Club members will
also get a chance to win exciting prizes-including their own birthday party

Science News
The Chaires Butterfly Garden needs butterfly plants (or gift certificates)
to create a butterfly habitat this month that will be ready for the new
school year.  Please drop off donations by Room 705 or see Mrs. Perez.
McCASKILL'S CORNER
THANK YOU for your support during the Kindergarten and 5th Grade Program
this week.  Your children are the BEST!  If you were not able to get an
order form to order the Chaires 2005-2006 School DVD, please stop by the
school right away to order.  Our 5th grade students are excited about their
trip to Sea World on May 18.  Please review school rules with your 5th
grader.  We want them to have an enjoyable time.  Also, we are still
experiencing a heavy amount of traffic in front of the school in the bus
loading zone.  We would appreciate it if you would drop your children off
in the back of the school.  Thank you for your cooperation.  “Children are

DVD ORDERS DUE MAY 16TH
Order forms have been sent home for the 2005-2006 DVD's. Each DVD is grade
specific.  Kdg-4th grade DVD's will be sent home the last week of school so
we can include as many events as possible. 5th Grade DVD's will be
available for pick up the beginning of June. We want to make sure to
include the special 5th grade events from the last week of school. We will
make only enough copies to fill the pre-paid orders, so send in your $10.00
before May 16th. Checks need to be made out to Chaires PTO.


Immunization Clinic
Students who will be entering kindergarten or seventh grade next school
year must have certain immunization documentation on file at school before
the start of the new school year.  It is not too early for students to
receive immunizations that are needed for the 2006-2007 school year!
While an appointment is encouraged, children may be seen on a walk-in basis
during the free immunization clinics listed below:

All children receiving immunizations through the Health Department must be
accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.   Parents should bring a copy of
their child’s complete immunization record. For more information call 488-
