PRINCIPAL’S PAWS
Welcome to the 2004-2005 school year! We are off to a fabulous start! I
was excited to see so many parents and children at Orientation. Please
note that Open House is early this year! Open House will be held on
Monday, August 30th. Be sure to stay tuned to the newsletter for
additional information.
I would like to encourage parents to get to know your child’s teacher.
Give them a call or send them a note if you have any questions. We are so
lucky to have such wonderful parental involvement at Chaires. Be sure to
find out what you can do to help your child’s teacher! It is because of
the wonderful faculty, staff, programs AND PARENTAL INVOLVEMENT that
Chaires continues to be an “A+” school in an “A+” community. I look forward
to meeting parents at our first PTO meeting on Tuesday, August 24th at 5:30
in the Media Center.

MRS. MCCASKILL’S CORNER
Leon County Schools will again be providing Audiological Services.
Students who have failed two hearing screenings or any child who is
suspected of having a hearing loss can be referred for a complete
audiological. Appointments can be made by calling 553-4327(Hearing and
Balance Associates). Please make sure you indicate that the child is a
student of Leon County Schools.

PARKING WOES
Thank you for being so patient with our parking lot problems. We are in
the process of assigning all the staff and faculty a parking spot for this
school year. Once we get faculty/staff parking squared away, we will be
able to add additional spaces for our wonderful parents to park.

KIDS DIG IT
Kids Dig It is an exciting family outing. This extraordinary fundraising
event benefiting Capital City and Seminote Optimist Clubs provides children
and their parents with the opportunity to get up-close, ride, explore and
even operate giant construction equipment, fire engines and military
vehicles of all types. Educational displays and plenty of food and
refreshments are combined to make this a full day of fun for all.
Festivities take place at the North Florida Fairgrounds on Saturday,
September 11, 2004. Gates will open at 9:00AM. Bring your lawn chairs and
stay for the concert presenting the Gann Brothers and Fortress beginning at
5:00PM. Admission is $5.00. No Coolers allowed. For more information
call 850-509-7567 or e-mail us [log in to unmask]

PTO SPIRIT STORE
The PTO Spirit Store will be open August 23rd-27th from
7:00am-8:00am. Come get your Computer Lab Headphones for $2.00 and check
out the new Chaires Panther T-Shirts.

ADHD EVALUATIONS
Leon County Schools is no longer providing the service of ADHD
evaluations. If you are concerned or interested in testing for your child,
please contact your private physician. Our Guidance Department has
inventory forms that parents may complete and turn in to their physician to
help assist in the referral process.

Shore-Event, on Saturday, September 18, 2004 from 8:00AM-11:00AM. Staging

have notice of these dates.

HIT AND RUN ACCIDENT
There have been two Hit and Run accidents in our front parking lot this
week involving two of our Chaires employees. These incidents caused a lot
of damage for both vehicles and were not reported to the front office. A
Gold Toyota Avalon was hit in the right rear, and a White Toyota Celica was
hit in the left rear. If you have any information about these accidents,
please notify the office.

Please mark your calendar and plan to join us for these upcoming events!
Please note that the items with an X indicate that we will be seeking
