PRINCIPAL’S PAWSE
Spring Festival will be held on Saturday, April 9th this year from 10:00am-
2:00pm. We would like to invite anyone that is interested, eager and ready
to begin working on their class' booth to please join us for an
organizational and working meeting. The meetings are on Tuesday and
Thursday mornings, from 7:30am-10:00am in the Guidance hallway. We will
continue these meetings every Tuesday and Thursday until the festival. If
you will need any special supplies to work on your booth, please call or e-
mail Kim Williams at 509-2759 or [log in to unmask] Together we can
make this festival the one to remember.

MRS. MCCASKILL’S CORNER
Welcome Back! I know you had a wonderful Spring Break with your children.
Our 1st and 2nd graders completed their SAT/9 test on Tuesday and
Wednesday. I am sure they all did a great job. We would like to remind
you that we still have a lot to cover academically and that we are counting
on you to get your boys and girls to school on time. Thank you for your
continued support. Have a Great Weekend!

PANTHER PROWL WALK/RUN
The Panther Prowl Walk/run will be held on Saturday, April 9, 2005 at
9:00am before the festival. Pre-registration forms were sent home today
and can be turned in to your child's teacher. The first 200 registrants
will receive a "goodie" package and t-shirt for the race.

SILENT AUCTION
The Chaires Panther PTO is seeking donations for the Silent Auction.
Donations can be monetary, gift certificates for goods or services, or
items from your business. Since the Chaires PTO is a registered non-profit
organization, any donation received can be considered tax deductible. We
will provide you with a receipt documenting your gift. You may drop off
donations with your child's teacher or in the front office.

GUIDANCE NEWS
We need your help for a special project entitled “CANDY CHUTES!” A
helicopter pilot is requesting care packages full of “candy chutes” for the
Iraqi kids. The pilots drop “candy chutes” from their helicopters as they
fly in the vicinity of the kids. Candy chutes are Ziploc sandwich bags
with 6-7 pieces of candy in them. They tape them up so they don’t break on
impact and they drop them when they see kids along their flight route. Of
course, they are careful not to hit the kids as they zoom along at 150 mph
100 ft. above the ground. We (soldiers and our country) want to be able to
give something back to them that says we (soldiers and our country) care
about them. It would also be neat if we could put a SHORT hand-written
note or picture in each candy chute. Something wishing them peace and best
wishes from the USA or even a note saying that the package was made in
Tallahassee, Florida. This is how you can help….we need you to bring in
bags of candy, and boxes of Ziploc sandwich bags over the next 3 weeks.
Turn these into your teacher by Friday, April 15th. Also, we need you to
write short notes or draw a picture for the kids of Iraq. We (Student
council and third grade) will collect these from the classes on Friday,
April 15th. Once we have collected them, we will spend the next week
bagging the candy to be dropped by the pilots. Please help us in the fun
yet caring effort. If you have any questions, please contact Miss Ann
Miller or Miss Ballance.

SPRING AHEAD
Daylight Savings Time begins on Sunday, April 3rd. Remember to set your
clocks ahead one hour before going to bed on Saturday.

BOOK FAIR
The Book Fair will be held the week of April 11th from 8:30am-1:30pm in the
Media Center and Tuesday night from 5:00pm-7:00pm. If you are available to
volunteer please contact Julie Sander at 942-0312. Hope to see you there!

GROUP PICTURES
We will be taking class pictures on Wednesday, April 13th. Photos must be
ordered and paid for on picture day. You may order more than one if you
desire. Picture envelopes were sent home today and can be returned on
picture day. The cost is $10.00 and checks are payable to Leonards. The
pictures will be taken outside on the playground. In case we have bad
weather we will take them in the Cafeteria on the stage.

GRIEF COUNSELING
The grief counseling group will begin on Monday, April 4th at 12:45p.m. If
you have a child who would benefit from this group, please stop by the
Guidance office and fill out a parental permission form. These students
may have lost a parent, relative or even a pet. The incident may be more
than a year old.

TILES NEEDED
The Art teacher is in need of approximately 525 plain white tiles for an
art project. The tiles need to be 6"X6" and cannot be Mexican tile, because
we need to fire them in the kiln. If you can donate or know someone who can
donate these please contact Jan Munn at 878-8534 or by e-mail
