PRINCIPAL’S PAWSE
I am so proud of all of the students at Chaires Elementary School this
week. Our word for the week has been COOPERATION, and so many people have
been a fine example! While our third, fourth and fifth grade students
began their FCAT testing this week, our primary students did a fabulous job
with their changed schedule. They were so quiet in the hallways in the
morning time, too! We're hoping that everyone has a relaxing and healthy
weekend, as we've had a great deal of illness the past two weeks. Our
students who tested worked very hard to do their best. Just one more week
of FCAT testing to go! Please make sure your child arrives to school on
time and is dropped off in the back of the school. Other upcoming events
include a spring performance by our fifth grade chorus and fourth grade
recorder group, the Spring Book Fair, a planning day and spring break. Be
sure to check out the calendar on the reverse side of the newsletter and
mark your calendar so you can join us!

PTO News
The Chaires Panther PTO needs local businesses to help sponsor the Spring
Festival on April 22, 2006. If you know someone who can help please
contact LeighAnne Chapman at 878-8534.

Art News
Youth Art Month is here! This year the entire 5th grade's project will be
displayed. We will also feature some of the 3rd grade's Scriffito pots and
some of the 4th grade's Animal Effigy pots. Congratulations to all of our
Chaires' Artists. This year's reception will be on Thursday, March 9th from
5:30 -7:00 at the Leroy Collins Public Library. Refreshments will be
served. The artworks will be displayed the month of March. I hope everyone
can come to the reception and celebrate with our young artists.
McCASKILL'S CORNER
Come enjoy a morning filled with reading and fun with Leon High School's
annual Key Club Government Project! Each year clubs around Leon County
hold projects encouraging youngsters to read! This year's Government
Project will be held at the Leon County Public Library, March 4th, 2006,
from 10:00-11:30am in Program room B. All first, second and third grade
students are welcome to come and READ! Our mission is to get students
excited about reading at an early age and show them how fun reading can
be. If you need any more information you can call Teddy at 488-1971.

Boxtops For Education
Thanks to all of you who have sent in boxtops. We have just mailed out
$817.00 at PostNet on Mahan Drive. The box tops enable us to purchase many
items for the classrooms, such as microscopes, so keep sending them in.
When we all work together good things happen.

Camp Woe-Be-Gone
The Caring Tree Program of Big Bend Hospice and the Challenger Learning
Center invite children, ages 6-12, who have experienced the death of a
loved one to join in a day of fun, support, exploration, and expression.
Campers will enjoy a day filled with sharing circles, creative arts, a
space simulation, music, and a time of remembrance. Breakfast, lunch,
snacks, t-shirts, and transportation to and from the Challenger Center will
be provided. This camp is a community outreach of Big Bend Hospice, Inc.
and is free of charge. Donations are warmly accepted. The camp is on
