We are quickly drawing to the close of the school year. Next week, we have
some exciting celebrations planned for our fifth grade students. Parents,
please plan to join us for as many of these events as you can!

We will be holding our final honor roll assemblies for this school year on
Monday, May 23rd. (Kindergarten & first grade at 8:00; fourth and fifth
grades at 8:45; and second and third grades at 9:30.) Parents are welcome
to join us! And, as a special send off for our fifth grade class, let's
all dress in HAWAIIAN STYLE for Friday, May 27th. As always, if you ever
have any questions or concerns, please feel free to call or email me!
MRS. MCCASKILL’S CORNER
Parents, we are almost to the end! We are asking for your continued
support in getting your boys and girls to school on time. If you have a
question or concern, please don’t hesitate to contact Mrs. Moss or myself.
Our boys and girls should continue to follow all of our classroom,
cafeteria, playground and dress code rules until the end of the school
year. We are looking forward to a fantastic ending to our successful
school year. Have a Fantastic Weekend!
SUMMER CAMP AT CHAIRES
Come and join the Chaires Summer fun Camp for an exciting 10 weeks of
fieldtrips, special events, and weekly themes. We are accepting incoming
Kindergartener's through 5th graders. Call Cathy Davis at 922-2866 for
more information or to get a registration packet. Limited enrollment.
KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION
Registration has begun for the upcoming school year (05/06). The items
needed to complete the registration process are the following: Completed
registration packet, current physical, immunization form, copy of a
certified birth certificate, copy of the social security card, and 2 proofs
of residency pertaining to your home (i.e. utility bill, phone bill, cable
bill, lease agreement, mortgage bill, etc.) If you have any questions,
please call the office at 878-8534.
A SAD NOTE FROM MS. KOENIG
After teaching for 39 years, 36 at Chaires Elementary, I will be retiring
as of June 1st, 2005. This has been a wonderful experience. I will truly
miss the friendly faces of students, parents, faculty, and staff. It's
been a great ride!
We will miss you Ms. Koenig!!!!!

Read, Keep Track, Win Prizes-
Florida Library Youth Program-Self paced reading program, May 28-July 23,
2005. Get a reading log at your nearest public library. Start reading and
keep track of the days you read. Visit the library each week and collect a
prize. For a list of special summer events at the library go to
www.leoncountyfl.gov/library.
ART NEWS
As we wrap up this great year I want to thank all of the students and
parents who faithfully brought in their recycling. I'm going to ask all of
you to continue to collect plastic containers such as; sour cream, yogurt,
butter tubs and any containers with lids. We use them all year to pour
paint and glaze into. Also please save your egg cartons.
I also want to thank all of the students, parents and office workers who
came in on Saturdays to paint the restrooms. We are having our last session
this Saturday, to paint on the final details.
Last Thursday we met at the Florida House of Representatives to view the
Christopher Stills Murals. We all had a great time and we taught the tour
guides some things about the paintings. We have been invited next year to
have a mock session. Thanks to all who attended. Next week every class
will have a popcorn party in art class. See you then.
