SANTA RIDES INTO TOWN IN STYLE WITH CHAIRES-CAPITOLA VOLUNTEER FIRE
DEPARTMENT

Santa Claus will be riding into eastern Leon County in style. Old Saint
Nick will be cruising neighborhoods and making stops on a fire truck from
Chaires-Capitola Volunteer Fire Department. The Department will conduct
two holiday parades.

The first will be on Sunday, December 12, 2004 from 5PM until 8PM. The
parade of fire trucks will cruise along Mahan Road, Buck Lake Road, Walden
Road, Chaires Cross Road and through the neighborhoods of Lafayette Oaks,
Sedgefield, Avondale, and the side streets off Walden Road. Santa will
also be making stops at W.T. Moore Elementary School at 5PM, Buck Lake
Elementary at 5:45PM, Publix at the Vineyards at 7:15PM and Chaires
Elementary School at 7:45PM. All times are approximate.

The second will be on Sunday, December 19, 2004 from 5PM until 8PM. The
Santa convoy will cruise along WW Kelley Road, Louvinia Road, Apalachee
Parkway and through the neighborhoods of Woodrun, Meadows at Woodrun,
Frontier Estates, Golden Pheasant, Windwood Hills, Timber Ridge and Twin
Lakes. Santa will also be making stops at Fire Station 30 near the
intersection of Williams and Louvinia Roads at approximately 5:15 and the
Super Wal-Mart on Apalachee Parkway at approximately 7:30PM.

Children and families are encouraged to step outside to meet Santa along
the route or at one of the scheduled stops and receive a special holiday
gift. Please wait until told it is safe before approaching Santa’s fire
truck.

The Chaires-Capitola Volunteer Fire Department reminds everyone to be safe
this holiday season. Check smoke detectors, carbon monoxide alarms and
fire extinguishers to make sure they are working properly. Make sure
chimneys are clean and flues are open when making a fire. Do not overload
electrical outlets with Christmas lights. Keep live trees watered to
prevent excess drying. Make sure homes are clearly identified with minimum
3-inch sized numbers.

Leon County residents interested in joining or contributing to the Chaires-
Capitola Volunteer Fire Department can call 850-942-4033.
