PTO Meeting 11/15/05 (at Skate World)

Attendees sign-in circulated

President’s Report
• Cookie Dough sales were a record. We had the largest order the
company has had- they had to deliver it in 2 trucks!
• We still have cookie dough that needs to be picked up. It is in
the freezer in the cafeteria.
• The new pre-k swings have arrived and were installed today
(11/15/05).
• The pre-order t-shirts and jackets are ready for pick-up. Kim will
pick them up on Wednesday and they will be sent home by Friday.

Treasures Report
• Cookie dough sales - $22,2000 ($8859 profit)
• Book Fair - $5547 ($970.88 profit to Ms. Phares - $693.48 profit to
PTO)

Partner’s Report
We have several proposals for Rental Companies.

Principal’s Report
Mrs. Sposato requested and was granted $155 to attend a conference. This
was used from the budget set for teacher education.

Fall Field Day and A+ School Celebration
Field Day was a great success! Mitzi and Dana did a great job! We had
many volunteers. Some of the things that helped to remember for next year
are:
• Green volunteer sign-up forms that were sent home
• Paint really helped for the boundaries
• Colored balloons assigned to stations
• Maybe have more direction for set up

Ms. Kilpatrick has advised us that we have a helium machine but we need to
find out how to fill it and how to use it. Mitzi (husband) advised that we
can get it filled at Air Gas.

New Business
Ms. Munn would like to do the SAX Fundraiser for Art in January again this
year. It was voted on and agreed that this would be good.

Holiday Dinner
We need to get prices from a few places for dinners for the Holiday
Dinner. Sonny’s was suggested. Also, Banjo’s and Mom & Dad’s. Caraba’s
was suggested but it was brought to our attention that they were booked
and, in order to book with them, we would have to book now for next year.
Leigh Anne will be checking with Sonny’s, Donna will be checking with
Banjo’s and Traci will be checking with Mom & Dad’s. It was also
recommended, and agreed, that we presale tickets with their choice of
entrée marked.

Holiday Store
The items for the Holiday Store will be arriving the week after
Thanksgiving. We need a volunteer to take over this project this year.
Kim has had this project the past couple of years and would like to pass it
to someone else to learn. Tracy Canter volunteered to take on this
project. The store will be open the week of December 5th through 9th from
8:00 to 1:00 and then on Tuesday night, the 13th, before and after the
holiday program. It will be set up in the Guidance hallway.

Spring Festival
Bouncers have been reserved for the Spring Festival. We have reserved 5
bouncers for $595. With the dunk tank it will be approximately $650.
Mitzi and Dana will also check if they have a cotton candy machine or pre-
made bags of cotton candy that we can get through the same company?

Also, the subject of insurance was addressed. Should we be buying
insurance for the day for functions such as Spring Festival? Christi will
be consulted on this.

Teachers will sign up for the booths that they want in January. The
baskets will be determined by a lottery drawing.

We are considering using Backyard Burgers for Spring Festival. It was
brought up that it was on the news that they were going out of business.
Donna has been speaking with the owners and will check into this rumor.

Incentive Items
We are running low on some incentive prizes. We were less than pleased
with the prizes we received last time from Glasshopper. Catalogs were
passed around and items marked for ideas to order, along with the dog tags.

Semester PTO Newsletter
We would like input from parents as to what PTO has done for you and your
child(ren). We would like to have a newsletter and share our thoughts with
each other. It was agreed that we would have a Parent/Volunteer breakfast
on 1/20/06 @ 7:30 to give parents a chance to meet and mingle. We want the
parents to know that everyone is welcome at PTO and it isn’t just for a
select few. We should come up with a catchy name for the breakfast because
it is thought that Parent/Volunteer breakfast will scare some away!

Other
Our popcorn machine has died! It is very old and we do not feel like it is
healthy to serve popcorn popped from it. A new machine is approximately
$300 - $400 at Sams. We should go online and check this out and this will
be discussed at our next meeting.

An Executive Board meeting was scheduled for 11/29/05 @ 5:30 in the media
center, to discuss the Holiday Dinner.
