PRINCIPAL’S PAWSE
It's Red Ribbon Week . . . that's why the newsletter was on red paper!
We've been celebrating all of the great things we can do as kids INSTEAD of
doing drugs this week. Special thanks to our student council and their
sponsor, Mrs. Jones, for a fun filled week!
This has been an exciting week with the red ribbon, the third grade program
(great job, kiddos!), AND book fair. We really appreciate all of the
parents who helped us out with the book fair, pizza dinner sales, and
preparations for the musical program. We couldn't do what we do without
you. Please know that we truly appreciate all YOU do for the school!

Fall Celebrations
Please know that our school policy allows for children and adults to
celebrate fall activities in the classroom, however costumes are not to be
worn to school (by children or faculty/staff.) We do our best to honor the
traditions and customs of many without offending. Thank you for making
sure that your child saves Halloween celebrations and costumes for family
time, if you choose to participate.

Honor Roll Assemblies
We will hold the Honor Roll Assemblies on Tuesday, November 1st at the
following times:
8:00am-Grades 4 & 5
8:45am-Grades K & 1
9:30am-Grades 2 & 3
Fell free to join us in the cafeteria to celebrate your child's
accomplishments.

T-Shirt orders are due November 1st
Blank order forms are available in the front office.

Lost and Found
Now that we are moving into the cooler months, our lost and found is
growing. If you have lost a jacket, or any clothing item, please have your
child check the rack in the cafeteria. To help us in returning a lost
jacket to your child, please write their name on the tag.

MCCASKILLS CORNER
Does Your Home Environment Promote Learning?
Parents are their children's first teachers. So that means your home is
your child's first school. Take this quiz to find out if you're making
your home the best school possible. Give yourself five points for
something you do often, zero points for something you never do- or any
score in between.
_____1. I tell my child about things that interest me and about new things
I've learned.
_____2. I notice my child's interests and praise him/her when they learn
something new.
_____3. We always have children's books around the house to read.
_____4. We provide learning tools-like paper, crayons, building blocks,
puzzles, safety scissors and paste.
_____5. We limit TV watching to make time for other learning activities-
reading, talking and exploring each day.
How did you score?
A score of 20 points and above means your home is a good learning place.
Fifteen to 19 is average. Below15? Try some of the ideas in the quiz above
to encourage your child's learning at home.
