PTO Meeting 9/20/05

Attendees sign-in circulated

Minutes from 8/16/05 PTO meeting were approved

President’s Report
• Popcorn party – a date has not yet been set. This if for those who
sold at least 6 items for our fund raiser.
• Grandparent’s Luncheon – it was a great success! We had over 250
grandparents join us for lunch. It all went really smoothly and the pre-
pay/order was a big help!

Treasures Report
Listed below are the total incomes for PTO activities so far this year:
• Food Sales (Orientation, Open House) - $1,184.30
• Spirit Sales - $5060.30
• Grandparents Lunch - $622.32

Volunteer Report
The electronic check-in is in the front office and operational. Julie gave
a presentation and showed how the new check-in system works. When you sign
in it will give you a name tag to place on your clothing. Along with this
electronic check-in, visitors should also sign in as they always have.

Partner Coordinator Report
For the Spring Festival, partners will be asked to donate money for a
particular fun flate or booth and a sign will be placed at that particular
area with their advertisement.

Principal’s Report
• Grandparents Day was a big hit
• Chaires East now has a room available for any parents with small
children (infants/toddlers) who may want to co-op with other parents to
care for each other’s children while the other volunteers, and trade off.
• We have a new family at Chaires who were evacuated from Louisiana.
They are happy in this area and have found housing in the Chaires
district.

Special Presentation
Ms. Munn shared her presentation with us where she has applied for a $1000
grant for the purchase of a slab roller. Right now, she has to load her
clay, take it to Buck Lake Elementary to use their slab roller and then
bring it back to Chaires, which is very inconvenient! She named her
entry “Pick a Posey and Put it in Your Pocket”. She will know in October
if she got the grant.

Committee Report
• Gift wrap products are due back around 9/23/05
• Cookie Dough kick-off is scheduled for 9/23/05
• Soup & Salad Luncheon – 10/4/05. Ms. Moss will be having a meeting
with Asst. Principals from around Leon County and the luncheon will be
available to them for $5.00 per person. (This is also a very special day
for someone very special -C.M.!!!)
• Field Day & A+ school cookout – 11/10/05

New Business
• Check into purchasing globes through Labels for Education. Each
globe takes approximately 3000 points. A thought that maybe each teacher
that would like to purchase one should have a collection box and encourage
their students to bring in labels.
• Maps are outdated. They are approximately 5000 to 6000 points to
replace all of them. We would probably start with the 5th grade and work
our way down to Kindergarten/Pre-K.
