PRINCIPAL’S PAWSE
I would like to thank Mrs. Balance and the Chaires Student Council for
sponsoring a wonderful week full of Red Ribbon “Just Say No to Drugs”
activities! We have enjoyed our dress up days, door-decorating contest,
and candy grams. I just know that the Student Council has wonderful things
in store for us this year.
I would also like to invite parents to join us for the Honor Roll
Assemblies on Monday, November 3rd in the cafeteria. (8:00am- Kindergarten
& 1st grade; 8:45am- 4th & 5th grade: 9:30am- 2nd & 3rd grade.) Not every
child will receive a award, but it’s a great time for us to recognize the
achievement, effort, and improvement for many children. It’s also a great
time – at the start of a new grading period – to encourage ALL students to
set goals for next time!
We will be recognizing students in the following categories for the first
nine-week grading period:
+Gold Panther Award – All A’s & B’s and E’s in Behavior & Work/Study Habits
+Purple Panther Award – All E’s in Behavior and Work/Study Habits and All
E’s in Effort/Participation
+Panther Cub Award – Perfect Attendance-(no unexcused tardies)
+Panther Pride Award – Most Improved (Teacher may choose two per class per
grading period.)

MRS. OLK CORNER
Mrs. Koenig, our science teacher will be going on sick leave for surgery
beginning on Monday, November 3rd. She will return in January after the
winter holidays. Ms. Carrie Huling, who did her student teaching here at
Chaires last year in Mrs. Shaner’s room, will be her substitute. We wish
Mrs. Koenig a speedy recovery and encourage you to keep her in your
thoughts.

BOOK FAIR
The annual fall Scholastic Book Fair is coming!!! Please mark your
calendars now for Friday, November 7th through November 14th. Parent night
will be Monday, November 10th from 5:00-7:00pm. We will also need
volunteers to help out. Hope to see you there.

CLINIC AWARDS
Congratulations to our winning clinic award classes. Mrs. Davis’ class won
the Safety Award by having the least number of visits to the clinic for
accidents. Mrs. Derrenberger’s class won the Empty Cot Award for having the
fewest number of illness related clinic visits. These classes enjoyed a
delicious cupcake party provided by Publix, one of our school partners.

P.E. NEWS
On Wednesday, November 12th our 4th and 5th graders will take part in an
assembly hosted by Sports World Incorporated. The speaker will be Don
McNeal, who played football for the Miami Dolphins for 10 years. He will
be talking to the students about making good choices regarding drug and
alcohol abuse, dropping out of school, and peer pressure. Parents are
welcome to join us at 1:00pm in the cafeteria to share in your child’s
experiences.

LOST AND FOUND
Now that we are moving into the cooler months, our lost and found is
growing. If you have lost a jacket, or any clothing item, please have your
child check the rack in the cafeteria.

VETERAN’S DAY
There will be no school for students or faculty on November 11th, in
remembrance of Veteran’s Day.

Please mark your calendar and plan to join us for these upcoming events!
Please note that the items with an X indicate that we will be seeking
parent volunteers to assist us. If you are able to assist, please contact
